Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I was out in the lab with my Filter-Flo and decided to run a small enough load to warrant use of the mini-basket. Although this washer doesn't have a "mini-wash" setting, I just set it on the low water level setting.

Well, after a few minutes of washing I lifted the lid and was surprised at what I saw. My first Suds Cake!

I came across this today searching the internet for GE washer parts.

I didn't know GE had made appliances for JCPenny's. I thought that they were all Norge based?

Here's a picture for the record. Interesting color too.

I noticed that the JCPenny's dryer has an extra lower fascia where a STD capacity GE dryer would have an open toe-kick. That addition is something GE should have done on their own dryers once they did away with the foot pedal opener.

It would blend better with the companion washer of the time.

Such as in this picture from the Archives.

What this shows is how versatile the Filter-Flo chassis really is and how clever GE was/is in getting the most models out there using the same tooling and factories. What this means for us is that you can literally build your own custom "couture" Filter-Flo washer from all the available parts. Standard or large capacity, mini basket, filter-flo/rim-flo, 1-speed/2-speed or more. Side opening lid/back opening lid. Suds saver, lighted console. 6"/7" tall console, chrome/mono-chromatic finish, etc. Truly customized to your taste and budget!

And you can do all of that to the companion dryer, so you'll always have the option of a "matched set".

Just in case I haven't mentioned it...I am searching for this special GE hose. So if anybody has one, please get in contact with me. It's GE Part #WH8X250.
