You are our webmaster, this angered lots of folks, that anyone would pull, what appears to be, a cruel prank. Thank YOU for your patience, but please know when I travel, will certainly keep an eye out for this elusive Apex for you, Robert I wish we could find about 100 of em, keep the best and flea bay the rest. Robert, first I want to thank you for giving us so much of your time and knowledge. Thanks to you, I have met some really nice folks through the site ... these are people who genuinely care about others:
Bob Amerman has become like a family member to me ... such a great guy. Greg Nunn has always been a great resource when I had repair questions. Jimmy (filter-flo) helped me to get several of my "dream machines" , as did John L and Bob Salem. It saddens me to see that someone could be so mean-spirited as to do this to you; but, it is his loss because he has missed out on meeting a great bunch of people. Thanks, Robert, for all of your help and kindness over the past few years ... I am always here if I can ever help you (and to return the favors and help that you have shown me); don't hesitate to call on me. I am a firm believer that "what goes around, comes around" is a true statement ... he will get his punishment somewhere down the line. Take care, my friend! Todd

Karma catches up with people

As some point we'll read about this looney toon in the papers or see him on the news. I just hope it doesn't involve any physical violence to innocent people.

Bethann, should you be out in Las Vegas, I'll buy you a drink! Very well said post.

Oh and for our little friend out there, a few parting words, "lo'fasz a seggedbe!" You'll need your Hungarian dictionary for that one. But the rough translation involves a horse, and a place where the sun doesn't shine.
 
Hi Robert. Again, I am so sorry for your disappointment. As for John, Bethann expressed it well. And John is the big looser because he is missing out on being part of such a great group of people. I pray that an Apex will come your way.

Aurora, IL

I live minutes away from Aurora and I read the newspapers front to back. There has been NO information in the police blotter regarding this. Has he said at what hotel or where he located in Aurora? There are some nasty parts near the downtown area but there are also no major hotels in that area either. The downtown area is not near the interstate either.

I think it's all a bunch of BS and it takes a pretty pathetic person to sink so low to enjoy other people's misery.

Thanks Heather for that information, out of curiosity I called the Aurora PD's Records department today to ask if a similar report had been filed (which SHOULD be public information), but the clerk said "Well, we don't just give random information out over the phone, it's not fair to the person who's filing the report" blah blah blah...even after I gave the specifics. Oh well; I'm glad that someone has revealed the fact that no such report was filed.

And so goes the tale of Johnny Apex-Seed, Part IV...for now at least! ;-)
 
If memory serves...

and Heather can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the majority of the "motels" just off I-88 are more like Hotels, with names like Shearaton, Marriot and Hilton...
Thieves would have lots of pickens there, more expensive stuff than a pickup with old appliances in the back...
OH WAIT... they wanted the laptop inside the cab!

...but I am really sorry to hear that someone, in their desperate search for attention, would pull a stunt like that.

I am sure your Apex will show up soon, Robert; you certainly deserve it. :-)

Motels....Hotels......

There is a lot of hotels (nice ones) 1-2 exits before Aurora in Naperville. Aurora has a few nice ones but they are not right off the highway (unless you count the one right off Orcahrd Road Exit and even then, it's a Baymont Inn which is very well lit). If (and I say IF with a huge sigh), he had to be staying in a SEEDY area of Aurora. But then there is the whole issue of no store's being open. That's an outright LIE. My husband and I went shoppping all weekend in this area and everything was open! You can't get more than 1 mile before you run into a Wal Mart, Target, Meijer, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.

If you are traveling along I-88 and you do not know the area, you would stop in Naperville because they have a bazillion signs for hotels, resturants, etc. Aurora signs have some resturants but that's it (except for the Hollywood Casino!).

I have no idea what he is up to but all I can say is that we caught him red handed. There is no record of any police report being filed. If there was one, I could go and get a copy. :)

Please just go away and leave the nice people of this website alone (and on vacuumland.org too). You are not worth wasting all this webspace on anyway.
 
the lasting impact will be...

that from now on, should someone who really, truly, honestly, does find an Apex (and who is not readily known around these here parts) will have a huge burden of proof to overcome.

Oh well, my 1.78 cents......

Robert, I hate to say this, but you brought the EE on this yourself. You should have begun the announcement with kinahora, the Yiddish word used to ward off the EE. Then you should not have allowed any talk about it until you had it. Or, if you talked about it, you would have had to change its name like parents of sick children would start calling or discussing the child using another name like Chiam meaning life, so that the EE would not know what had happened to the sick child and could not tell the angel of death where the child was. Next time, protect yourself. Don't risk losing another child.
