Not my favorite choice for a floor, but i'd keep it... Unless i could afford the beautiful glass hexagonal tiles i found ($150 a SQ FT not installed!)

Pete: There is a song about bananas: "Bananas come from the equator, that's why you should never put them in the refrigerator.", only cheeky monkeys refrigerate them. Also, your dog is cute. I have a 10 year old Border Collie named Girly-girl. She is mostly black/with white paws and chest. Phil

Pete, thanks for posting. Your new house is awesome. I LOVE that workshop; with the long workbench, that is the perfect vacuum workshop in my opinion. I'm envious!

Ah, those morning ablutions....

so necessary to get the day off to a good start!!! Great floor and wall tile. Does the MAR feature a separate tile
shower? Is that a nice marble formica vanity top we're
glimpsing?

Darrel, it's an odd layout I think.. That large bathroom has an entrance in the hallway and a cheater door to the master bedroom, there is no shower stall or shower at all for the tub. Now right beside it, where I was standing in the hall taking the pic is another smaller bathroom sans bath but with an original tiled corner shower and vanity.. Both vanities look to be original laminate, not granite. I would have thought the larger bathroom with tub etc would be it's own room for everyone to use, no cheater door and the smaller bathroom with just the shower would be for the master bedroom alone, so what the builder was thinking I dunno, it's not the way I would have done it originally.

Pturo. .any chance of a girly-girl dog pic.. we have another border collie.. Parker,, he's 12 now but was sleeping when I took the pic. Ben will be 4 in March. Grew up with BC's, always had BC's

Austin, I'm thrilled with this space, finally, finally I have something proper.. LOL
The laugh is my partner figured he'd take the garage to put up all his "stuff" tools etc and do some wood refinishing. The garage is heated and comfy enough you don't need a jacket really but this is so much nicer.. too bad so sad I say to him.. LOL

Nice pics, Pete! I had a lady bring in a Concept for repair, just like the blue one you have. Gorgeous colors. She ain't lettin' go of that thing either!

Looks like you have a great place Pete! Congratulations on your new home. Love the fireplace, workshop, basement, kitchen, and of course the tile floor in the bathroom!

I would love to relocate someday myself, but would absoulutly hate to have to move all my stuff. Sometimes I think the only way for me would be for my house to burn down.
Then I would not have to pack. <:

Now Rick I can hardly see you wanting to move. You're place is beautiful, you have that oversized yard too which is a huge plus. I looked at some much larger and fancier houses than this one for around the same money but not one of them had a comparable yard and that was a major deciding factor in us buying this one.

Pete, a 120 year old house is a lot of work to take care of. And I hate being cooped up in a house all winter. Summer is too short here in the Mid-Worst. It sucks.

This house is really the only home I have ever known. And I have a good job here, and some great friends. But I will not stay here forever, in spite of all that.

My dream is to live near the ocean someday, no matter how long it takes me to get there.
And in a smaller, more "maintenance free" type house. This house and the Mid-West are just way too far from there.

I do love your house Pete. Looks like it was well cared for and pampered since it was built.

Well I hope you get your dream someday. Our place out there in the country was sort of a dream and granted it was nice other than the winters, we spent a long time landscaping it. But it was beginning to get a bit wearing the last few years looking after that much even with all the big equipment. Even moreso when I was no longer working and had all the time in the world, the less I wanted to do with it so I figure this place is a good compromise or so I hope. The locations not bad, very central to everywhere, it's out of any known snowbelts and we're only a few blocks away from the beaches on Lake Huron which is as close to the ocean you're going to get without actually being near the ocean.

That sounds just wonderful Pete! The Great Lakes are almost like the ocean. As close to it as you can get in North America anyway.

You say your old place was starting to wear on you, and that is how I feel about my house right now. Have lived here going on 28 years, and am getting tired of the same old walls, and the extra work it takes to live here. At some point I have to ask myself, do I own the house, or does it own me? *grin*

Pete, What a great house!!

The fireplace is spectacular. The tile is so elegant!!

I'm green...I want a workshop like yours :-)

I hope that you and your other half enjoy MANY years of health, laughter and happieness in your new love nest :-)

Rich

Oooh, love the new house, Petey! Those tiles around the fireplace are fabboo.

More pics, please.

I'm also really liking that all-refrigerator. I didn't think they still made them. I already have a pretty big freezer, so I'd rather have an all-fridge than the side-by-side I have. I'd miss the ice through the door, but I could live with that. Any idea where it was bought?

And don't say Eatons!
