Finally its happened to me right in front of my eyes but words cant describe it

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

glad you approve gary.

they dont look half bad eh.

The dryer looks even more menacing than the 3243H.

I christen the dryer model 3023S!
I am not doing a 3023C..........'C' for condenser - always vented!

Has Cylons (Battlestar Gallactica) had clothes to wash, these are the machines they would have owned.

Always interesting to see what 'might have beens' could have looked like.

Thanks for putting the idea in my head Mathew.

I have calmed down now - has it sunk in with you yet Gary?

Hoover re-designs

Morning Paul

Yes it has now my mind has switched in to "get it sorted" mode........so i will be making a big effort to find some plates for it.

But of course i might get some and then find other problems but that doesnt worry me

I am glad to have what i have, mind the plates in the 3062 could work probably similar programmer etc.

But like you i work from home 4 days a week to make a living and today i must do that.

So all of you who have contributed thanks for you comments and time.

Keymatic Mania!!!

Congrats Gary, another model in the chain found....yay!!!, looks in fine fettle as well, I was thrown when I first saw it and you said it was a 3234H, I always thought that it was the one in the pic below.....according to the keyplate it has models 3234 & 3234H on, "Whats the difference Paul??"

You would think that they way they where promoted that "Any Keyplate fits all", not so....most of them had different / upgraded programmers etc....the morning I was setting up the Keymatic for the film shoot on history channell I couldnt find the dam keyplates anywhere, I have a stash and thought just use the nearest which was the A3062???....not so, would work it any any near model to the A3008....

Heres the one that got away, unless a member here is hiding it!!!...LOl so is this the 3234???

Mark, where did you get the A3062 machine, lovely Job!!!machine

Keyplate

Thankyou very very much.........(kisses feet)

I have been on the phone a bit this morning ringing round local shops to see if i can find them.
Most have had loads and dumped them (like most old parts)one guy was fascinated to think that there are people around who collect old machines........

So your generosity is much appreciated

I have sent you an email with details.

Gary

Keyplates

I did wonder if they could be used in other machines, i presumed that a keyplate would operate a small series of machines, and when they introduced new programmes etc it would as you say be updated.

The programmer in the 3008 looks the same as the 3243H but i would guess there are a few differences.

This keymatic has worn me out in some ways..............because i like others have wanted one for so long, now its here, my mind is still a bit dazed about it and i am constantly thinking of what might need doing etc, like Paul i work at home 4 days a week and am finding it very hard to concentrate.

Like now i had to come here and see if anything is happening, my other half likes the machine, but still thinks i need a rest in a home for the bewildered because of all the time and effort i put in to these machines

He was shocked that Mathew and i sat downstairs talking about machines etc for so long..........could have gone on more :-)

but a bit like Mark in Scotland we are a bit isolated being at the ends of this country, though i realise none of us are exactly around the corner to each other

So again thank you to all of you who have been supportive and generous with you comments and help :-)

When it is working obviously i will do vids etc, but i mentioned to Mathew about taking it to him for a meeting and to meet others here, dont book yet because he hasnt replied to that email yet

Congratulations on a superb machine, what a great testament to made in Wales.

I could get to like Hoover for one of these.

Keymatic

Thanks for that Lee

They are so mechanical they fascinate me, and also to me represent the pinnacle of Hoovers designs that in my opinion in those days were exciting and dynamic

Gary

Yey!! The Keymatic will get it's Keyplate.

Lots of fun ahead! Im still so excited about it.

well done

hi congrats on your find, i have an early keyplate but needs some work! If you dont mind where abouts in cornwall do you live , i have family in Wadebridge, so next time i am down i may pop over haha ! have fun Richard

WOW! I am shaking with excitement too.

I saw the Human League in concert last night and then I log onto Automatic Washer and see this! Beautiful machine indeed. So sad to see that Hoover is no longer going to be making these Welsh machines any more.

All this and Roberts Apex its been an exciting week.

I have a keyplate too Gary, although its in storage at the moment in a box somewhere. I cant remember which model it is for though, so will endeavour to check when next the storage door is opened.
I think its the same colour (but grubbier) as the one mike is sending you.
I will check when i can for you.

Hi Mike.
model numbers. hmmmmmm.
I think i have got the uk side of things sussed and, as far as i know, the 3243H was the ony UK matchbox model (barring the A3050 leccy board exclusive).
Having seen the many weird model numbers stamped on your keyplates, all i can assume is that 3234 was an export model (probably continental).

The machine which you nearly managed to acquire was still a 3243H, but from the later run of machines i.e when the orange 3236h and 3022 appeared.
gary's machine is the early version, which would have been on sale alongside my parents red version 3236h.
I think that is how it works anyway.

Blimey gary - i still cant get over it. I have calmed down now, but i am sure the stresses and strains of stuff happening on here and to me directly, have knocked a couple of years from my life.
But hey - for a 3243H - i really dont mind.

Enjoy - you have a magical machine there!
Still really pleased for you.
Paul
p.s below is the Keymatic de luxe E (A3050), image courtesy of Mike King's collection. This version, as i understand it, employed a white upper panel (where gary's 3243H is silver) and a brown lower panel (where gary's machine is slate grey).....

Programmers

OHHHHHHH MY BRAIN HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL..........well Mike your timing coudnt be better as i have just received the diagrams for the 3243H..........absolutely amazing such a simple idea at a basic operation level............but of course from little building blocks do grow huge massive skyscrapers

I was even comparing the plates in the picture you showed of the stack of them......in a way i want to get stuck striaght into it.............but my head is so full of ideas, questions etc that it is going to explode.

This is a huge subject, i used to think that ordinary mechanical programmers were a peice of cake, but these with the extra mech and bits so you dont have to turn a nob........just push a card in, oh feck i am getting excited just thinking about it............

all will be revealed in time.

That German advert is brilliant what a find it looks great

Paul
Well thanks a lot as well.........im going to drown in a sea of keyplates and washing machines.........i need a week off work to get all this sorted..........Time bloody Time......
But the machine is here all is well and im going slowly mad with it :-)

I was planning on overhauling the A3308 drum needs changing and a few things.............well that has gone out the window now.........this old mechanical logic controlled machine is taking its place :-)

It is a 4kg load and 720rpm spin i am so interested in this machine.........HELP.........one cup of tea after another.....smoke smoke..........

Well tomorrow i get a break as i have to go work and see what turns up, DONT EVEN SAY another KEYMATIC christ what a thing that would be..........

Well chaps as you can see i am rambling out a load of old sh.t here so i am going to retire

But again THANKS TO YOU ALL your all bloody diamonds :-)
