FINALLY .............. NEW PORCH !!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

It looks great and original to the style. My friend also has a similar house and porch but with the steps on the left side rather than front center. He's been poking along at refurishing it for 3 years now and it's pretty much just at the needs painting and it's done stage.

Cedar is supposed to be a natural insect repellant but I've found out in the past couple of years that woodpeckers seem to like it! My house is all cedar sided, built in 1983 and up to 2 years ago I have never had a problem with woodpeckers but now they are making holes like crazy!

Looks Great!

I remember seeing it being done when my girlfriend and I came to get the Coldspot (which now has a new motor and, outside some squeaky operation of the blower, works great, and will be completely restored over the winter -rust stripped, re-painted, etc.). It looks great!

GORGEOUS!!!!!

I thought it looked beautiful before but this is simply gorgeous. You must be so proud of your hard work!!!

I can't wait to see it for real :-) Enjoy it in good health.

Wow.

It's beautiful. Everything looks very authentic to the period of your home. What a creative idea to paint the lower half green and leave the upper half white. Presumably you're going to leave the pillars white? It will add a lot of height, dimension and interest. The porch floor stain is really attractive -- it still looks like it has a patina.

HI GREG !!!! Can't believe the transformation in 7 short

it's perfect and beautiful just like the washers in your basement and the ones you gave me. How do you do it?

thank you ... ...

thank you all for your warm sentiments ........... and Fred (blackstone) its just pure sand underneath the bricks, there was plastic at the end of the walk holding/framing the bricks together which fell apart so i encased the end of the walk in where it meets the driveway with pressure treated wood.

Below is another shot of the new foundation being put in and the porch was jacked back up level.

You did a beautiful job Greg. I like the green you picked as the color and the natural wood on the inside. I would say your home was built in the late 20's or 30's craftsman style. Mame, Rick is my all time favorite movie. We all should have an Auntie Mame.. She is too much fun and lots of drama... Dano

Wow, Greg! That looks great. I know what your going thru,as we are rebuilding our porch too.

Man! You have been busy!!!!

Greg,
You really did a good job!
Lot's of work. (I am sure that you don't need me to tell you this)
It does look super however! I love the green! Are you going to paint the whole house this color? I find it looks so clean, and cozy!
Thanks for the pictures!
Looks super!

thanks more and again :)

house was built in '23. House to the left is identical floor plan (rooms on "opposite" sides) slightly different architecture on porch. Her house has aluminum siding (uuuggghhh), no offense, just not my thing. I like real wood, even with the work that goes with it .......... the cedar shingles on the top half of my house are in good shape and don't need painting yet. I thought of stripping them and letting them go "natural". Thats a big thing here and especially down on cape cod with the harsh elements and salt air. And yes, I am going to paint the rest of the bottom half of the house (clapboards) green, eventually I thought of also doing all the trim in a very pale lemon yellow. Baby steps. The back yard is small but a mess, so I hope to work on that next year ............

shared garage

the garage between the two houses is "shared" with a fence down the inside middle of it. I own half and my neighbor owns half. Its very well written up legally to protect both sides from one doing something to other or vice-versa and my neighbor is wonderful thank god. This pic was taken in March '05 before my closing and before I moved in. You can see the garage at the end of the driveway. I own the "right-side/half"

On another separate note. Before I bought the house, all the woodwork/trim inside was painted pure white which is fine and looks great but the house next door has all the original natural stained woodwork and its GORGEOUS ...........
