Finally Replacing The Hoover Vision Dryer With A British Classic

Hi Guys

Well ive been waiting for a dryer to come along to replace the awful Hoover Vision Condensor which is currently not working as a condensor dryer because it has a blockage and thinks the water tank is always full.Ive had a lot of problems with it and am looking forward to seeing it go.

I thought I had found a replacement in the Zanussi but alas the reversing is awful on it so it's now waiting for a new home.

Yesterday I found a dryer I am in love with. 1 minute reversing intervals which is fab.

It's a model which I did not know existed. There is a very simular model which I new but this one I have never seen.

The great thing is that it appears to be virtually unused and from what I found looks like it was only used a handful of times in it's previous life.

That door hinge is rather familiar and the door rim is too. Perhaps a match to the Microprofile

I took the back off to clean out the usual lint from the heater and fan and around the wires and this is what I found.....NO LINT!! She has seen very little use.

This machine is a keeper. I love it. The reversing is fantastic. I was origianlly hoping to find a reversing Hoover dryer but im more than happy to have the Creda.

Can someone date this machine for me please? I have no idea. My guess is mid 80's?

Great machine there Mark!

I caught a glimpse of the thread earlier, when it was just the door hinge shot, and had an inkling that it was a Creda - it was to do with the thickness of the door trim.

Looks fantastic - whats the story with it being so very pristine?

Based upon the Creda 37405 Reversair, I think early 80s.

The Creda Crusader washing machine - virtually a match for your dryer (although the dryer isnt branded Crusader) - appeared in the September 1981 copy of Good Housekeeping magazine.

Whether yours was a later version, towards the end of the life of that bodystyle, i dont know. I think the replacement, slanted facia machines were introduced in late 1984/early 1985.

Here is the 37405 on which the machine is based.

Just be aware to clean the fluff filter after each use. Its a novel design, but can have a tendency when you pull it out to drop fluu over the place.

I have recently seen a 37405 that has fluff and dust coming out of the facia, due to clogging.

I was hoping you would reply and give me lots of info on the machine as I know nothing about this model. The one I new was the gold fascia like this but with the vent in the door. I was very surprised (And extremely happy) when I came across it to find a see through door. I like to see what is going on inside!

Thanks for the extra pictures of the variations. I recognise the black fascia one but again in my mind I see it with a vent in the door. Did they make that model with a vent in the door or am I imagining it? I notice they actually put on the fascia "Rear venting dryer" Maybe people were so used to them venting out the front they got confused.

That coppertone one is very interesting. Have never seen that one either.

I must have a gap of time when it comes to Creda machines. I remember the ones with vents in the door up to like the one I just got then The slanted fascia ones but with the lint filter in the door and then all I remember are the early 90's ones. I did have a slanted front washer about 5 years ago but it was badged Electra. Electronic 1150 or 1100 I think it was. Ended up being scrapped and I did keep the fascia but sadly dumped that when we moved house. Never got a picture of that either. Why with many of my machines that came and went I did not photograph them to keep as history I will never know.

The machine came from a house clearance. When I saw it it was filthy. Covered in bits of food and who knows what but when I looked at the drum I could tell it was going to be a good one.I still was not sure though what the reversing was like. I knew the reversamat that I had that Mike now owns reversed every minute (I think) and so I hoped they still kept the 1 minute reversing. I can say when I started the machine up and it did I was smiling from ear to ear (How sad)..lol It must have sat under a work surface for 25 years with hardly any use. You should have seen my face when the back came off and no lint. I had the vacuum at the ready to hoover up all the lint.

Im still amazed at it. Why buy a machine and not use it?

I now do not need to go round second hand appliance places / Charity shops to look for a Hoover dryer. The Creda is the main dryer now with the 6042 to keep it company.

I am though not going to be drying Jeans in it with the metal studs to chip the paint. Also I never use full heat so hopefully that may help also. Any items like that will be done in the 6042 where the enamel drum is much more resistant to chips.

I did do the ultimate test in it today for the reversing. I dried a duvet cover. Dried it perfectly with no balling or damp patches left.

Well ive written an essay so ill bugger off now

Oh before I go...How dare you remind me to clean the filter after each load!...Its a must and I always do in any dryer...The bloody cheek of it!..lol x

Paul was wondering would the numbers 8403 on the ratings label mean March 84?

Have no idea if there is a dating system to Creda machines like Hoover or Hotpoint.
