Yes it damn well is!

I bought a bottle of it in Tesco yesterday as it was down on price to £2.66 as the dishwasher has been running for almost a year now without using such a product (as superfluous as some may see them) and the dishes were intermittently getting a bit slimy when they came out, even though the salt and rinse aid were topped up and adjusted correctly.

So, I took the sticker off the lid, put it in upside down in my empty Bosch SKT 5102 and ran it on a Strong wash, which was 65*C for the first two cycles, the specified temperature.

About an hour and a half later it was finished and as soon as I opened the door I was hit with a smell of lemons and freshness!

The bottle was where I'd put it, minus the liquid inside and the dishwasher was truly GLEAMING.

Since then it has been washing the dishes so much better and for what ? Under £3 ?

Yes, I will be buying again most certainly!

Vinegar 44p from ASDA

Id rather clean the dishwasher out with white vinegar, by just pouring half a bottle of vinegar in the machine and running an intensive wash, does the same job as cleaners for the fraction of the price, then the rest of the bottle, I pour into the rinse aid dispenser as an eco alternative to rinse aid. I use this in conjuction with ALDI Magnum Classic 3in1 Tablets.

Better than vinegar there is citric acid! :)
And that leaves almost no scent at all, maybe that little lemony whiff that you might get.

I believe that if used correctly those products are totally unnecessary and just a waste! How would the old housewives of the 70 or 80s cope with their dishwasher without finish cleaner?!?! hheheh

But beware...this cleaner will turn all the plastics blue in the dishwasher. I used it several months ago and was shocked to see anything that was white and not nylon coated turned blue. It took a couple of months to get the dye off. Never again and I didn't find any difference in performance in my machine.

I used this in my DishDrawer, and I had to run around 4 rinse/hold cycles (allowing it to fill, then shutting off strait away for draining) before the bubbly stuff would be flushed away. The was no indication that this would occur, and I was pretty annoyed at it. It also wastes softened water from our Home Water Softener, meaning we regenerate more often, and use more salt :(

Also, I believe this stuff is the reason our Kidney Shaped Drain filters have begun separating (one is just starting) and (one is already useless, we use one drawer without any drain filter, but we don't use that drawer very regularly, so it'll be fine till I contact F&P support).

So, as DJ-Gabriele has said, Citric Acid is probably the way to go, and I will probably get some at the supermarket some time soon, and test it out. Hopefully, the stuff will clean the filters as well as the finish did (it removed tomatoe/oily stains from the filter area and cleaned the filters pretty) OR keep the drains clear! I don't need a "blocked" dishdrawer (lol?)

We'll I'm surprised!

I thought if it was going to foam up excessively it would have in my little table top Bosch, but no...
