First finds of the New Year

Yep, it didn't take long - By January 4th, Phil and I were on the road to pick up a couple of new machines! We hit the road and headed to Jon (jetcone's) place in Boston to pick up a couple of machines that Jon had very kindly transported for us from Beltsville (both machines are found the other John - combo52). Now, I'd been fortunate enough to visit Jon's "charcoals" back in October - Phil was more taken with the Blackstone, though!!

And of course, we used some Rosalie's in the load done in the Blackstone

Phil and Artey hit it off, too!

Jon was a gracious host and even allowed us to play with the Toast-O-Lator! This is really a fun toaster...

But we were on a mission.... We loaded up the truck to get some new treasures back across the border!

Under cover of darkness and thanks to my neighbour, Cyndi, this lovely 1957 GE dryer has made it to Ogden and is waiting to be paired up with that 57 GE Suds-Saver washer Phil and I saved last October.

It's really in wonderful condition!!

Control panel is near-mint - it even has the 'air freshener'!

Speaking of which, how exactly was this supposed to work? Did this require a can of spray air freshener?

The cycle control has timed and automatic dry functions! OOOOH... AAAHH!!

And there was even a 'sprinkle' cycle for dampening clothes to be ironed.

Drum and lint filter look great! You can't see it here but there is a drum light. In the 57 (and the 58 I used to have) the light is below the lint filter.

This one's for Ken - the instructions on the door are in fantastic condition!

The cabinet is just amazing - the washer is going to take some work before it looks like this, though! Guess I have my work cut out for me in 2013...

At least I have the wiring diagram... LOL I can't wait to actually sneak this into the house and get working on it! Stay tuned...

Nice finds, even if they're not turquoise! Too bad the timing didn't work out so that you could have met a bunch of us at the party on the 5th!

Jon (and Artey!) kept us entertained during our stay!

In addition to the washer from Beltsville, Jon also got a few surprises like the dishwasher knob from Greg (Thanks Greg!) and some detergent boxes!

And Paul also got another interesting appliance from Jon, I haven't seen pictures of it yet!

That's a pretty dryer!! I like GE dryers of this era, I had a BOL 57 in yellow for a while and have wished I'd kept it. They made a very nice dryer.

There are two more appliances on the truck...

Wow!  That cabinet and console are in amazing condition.  This must have almost never been used - that dryer is 56 years old!!!

 

You know, that would be a stunning showpiece in that new niche in your entry.  I'm just sayin........

Chuck - I wish we had more time to have been able to stop by! Ironically, I am probably going to have plenty of free time in the next few weeks....
