First Miele dishwasher software upgrade

Hi Everyone,
So just after 6 months of owning my G7919SCi dishwasher, the app sent me a notification of an upgrade. Quite a number of parameters have been upgraded. The main ones are:
1. PowerWash program has been optimised
2. 2nd Interim rinse setting
3. Dosage amount setting optimised

Here are my observations:
I have switched on the 2nd interim rinse. It adds 10 minutes to the program, but I have noticed a better result with shiner dishes and glassware.

The dosage amount used to be adjustable between 5 grams to 10 grams. The default was 7 grams. I had set mine to 5 grams, now there are no longer grams showing instead, Normal, Increased, or Decreased.

The Auto program starts with more water in the prewash, instead of 2 litres and adjusting for the load size, it is now 3 litres. There are no longer pauses between the cycle phases.

The temperature on the ECO program is no longer shown in the display, this will certainly mean that the temperature of the program has been adjusted. I will report the changes when I run it.

I haven't tried the PowerWash program yet but will report the changes.

Overall, I'm pleased with the software upgrade. It amazing how they can tweet the programs to improve the overall performance of the machine.

Thanks for all these detailed posts about your dishwasher.

Pretty much the only reason I got my Siemens Zeolite is the Shine&Dry option that adds an extra rinse. The only alternative would have been Miele for twice the cost.

I like how they provide details about the update - my Bosch dryer updated without any details (or noticable change). Maybe you can gain some insight about the cycle changes from current manuals.

Can you explain what you mean by "no longer pauses between the cycle phases" What kind of pause was happening?

It's nice that the app listed and explained the updates. Last year when my model DW got an update no explanation was given about anything. I had to look out for any changes every time I ran a different cycle. Now I feel like I won't do any more updates unless I know what is going to be changed.

My machine pauses after almost every stage aswell.

It does it first drain algorhythm with wash pump running and the drain pump stopping and starting a few times.
Then it drains completely and switches off the wash pump.

Then it usually pauses for about a minute or two to allow dishes to drip dry as far as I understand.

Then it drains again and moves on to the new stage.

Does it pause between the prewash and wash and also between each rinse too? I guess the update put an end to that behavior.

As far as I remember, yes, unless you select the express option.

ECO

I ran the ECO program the other day to see whether there was a change in the temperature and there wasn't any. The main wash is still at 55 degrees and the final rinse at 46 degrees. Miele has released a new model in Germany with an A rating for energy. That model has a 43 degree main wash and 42 degree final rinse. I ran a Gentle 45 program with Express option and the Main wash went to 55 degrees and the final rinse to a whopping 70 degrees. I must say I do like the 2nd interim rinse option which I will leave on.

@logixx, I took screenshots of the update as it isn't stored on the app, that is the only downside.

Eco update

That is probably a EU regulations thing.

Our energy label is based on the Eco cycle and if the appliance doesn't perform as speced on the spec sheet the label is based on, that is basis for a recall.
That has happened in the past, but only if the appliance performed worse.

Maybe there is some hardware difference aswell.
Or they just don't want consumers to get better performance without paying.

Though on these new A level machines, the top end usage of the Auto cycle went down.
So did some of the other cycles.

Awesome to see Miele not just pushing basic software updates to but introducing new functions too.

I've owned a Miele TCJ680WP Heat Pump dryer since 2018 and not had a single software update.

When ever I have checked the app it just says it's up to date.

Any one had any Tumble Dryer updates?

New model numbers

The 7100 becomes the 7200, the 7310 the 7410, the 7510 the 7610 and the 7910 becomes the 7920.

There are a few new intermediate models in the 7200 and the 7400 range.
Main differences in these models (designated by the last digit being increased by 3 - so 3 instead of 0 for normal height and 8 instead of 5 for tall versions - and an E after the number) appears to be the racking and slightly improved noise rating on the 7400. I think also an added cycle, but don't remember for sure right now.

The last Miele engineer I had just before Christmas said that remote updates still weren’t available in the UK on laundry here. Rather annoying as remote update capability is available on most other manufacturers, and I believe some cooking appliances.

No updates on dryers

My cooktop had a firmware update fresh out of the box, but my oven did not.

Me thinks the dryers just don't have much to be updated.
The only thing they majorly changed was adding the bedding cycle.
All other cycles appear to be almost exactly the same across most version of the dryers.
