I heard on the radio this morning about this day being the anniversary of the first Tappan microwave oven debuted for home use in 1955 in Mansfield, Ohio????????????? I have heard this b4; has anyone else heard this?? I guess it was quite big, not like a countertop model..Prolly why it wasn't so popular??? I wonder if there is anything about it in Tappan's/ Electrolux time line...

There's a Picture-of-the-Day that used to rotate through of a 1950s microwave wall oven, I think it is a Tappan. I have the picture saved, but not on the computer where I am at the moment.
Our church had one built in next to a wall oven in a kitchen built in 1963.
There is one on display at a museum in western Nebraska (Minden) that is from about this time. I've heard the very first ones used water to cool the system!
