A lot of these are hitting the market now...
I wonder why that is. SO bloody expensive when new. Phoenix listings have shown many of late in the $100 range....

some owners enjoy these and I've always been curious if these were problematic more than reliable - they're not everyone's cup of tea in looks, grant you that.
Why so Many?
Since they're at *THAT* age - where people consider getting the latest and greatest again. Maybe their remodelling or moving. This set is going because of moving house - so maybe the new house has some "better"
I'm sure they'll be some that were outright lemons - doesn't look like this set.
Would be nice to see a money shot to see if this is the AquaSmart or not - if so, that may be the reason they are selling.
Many complain those washers tangle clothes and don't clean, while others don't. I don't know what to believe.

It is really a plague anymore. I know I could quickly research this as I sit here...but I'll ask anyway: Fischer/Paykel--are they not basically Electrolux/Frigidaire in origin? Thought I'd read that 10 or 12 years back. I'm not the biggest fan of post 70s Frigidaire in the least.

F&P machines are not based on WP/Frigidaire/Electrolux or Haier design. They were completely independent company from New Zealand, and have made a lot of innovation in washers, dishwashing, cooking and refrigeration.
In our part of the world, their Top-Loaders are ubiquitos and have served many families extremely well.
Their front-loaders are some rebadged crap from Italy or Greece, I believe. Their finesse was and will remain "smart" Top-Loaders, DishDrawers and ActiveSmart refrigerators.
Since the Haier takeover, I haven't heard reports of their products spontaneously combusting. Won't be long before Haier take/steal their product ideas, though.
However, I think Haier have lifted their game somewhat. Several European members, and some Aussie members have their washers and like them very much.
So the two brands might merge or share features to expand the marketshare. In any case, F&P should remain the "Prestigous" brand - which is probably why they were bought out in the first place.
And I totally agree with our societie's waste on all things. Thats why I've kept older computers, and bought an old HP tablet. All work well.
Same with my phone - Bought a used 3GS iPhone and am very happy. People insist I should upgrade. I refuse to waste $1000 on an Apple product as lowly as a phone.
Believe in fixing or repairing, as well. People claim new appliances are more efficient - but replacing newer stuff that doesn't last as long is far worse for the environment than "EnergyStar" appliances. Anyone ever factor in the pollution of shipping?

Was just sitting here online having a browse at Fisher history, etc. I don't know where I thought there was Electrolux/Frigidaire connection. I did know there was Australian/New Zealand connection....but somehow had the idea that their US market offerings had been either licensed by or manufactured by Frigidaire Electrolux.
I cannot agree with you more re; fix/repair. There's VERY little (in the way of vintage goods, anyway) which cannot be repaired or refurbished for good serviceability. Not to mention the cash outlay for a new appliance which dies prematurely (where you're OUT potentially thousands of $). I'd rather buy a nice vintage fridge/dishwasher for practically nothing....and spend relatively nothing to rehab whatever small bits need tending to. Nice to keep hard-earned cash in pocket.

The washer is an EcoSmart agitator model. A Phase 7 unit, probably WA37T-something-or-other. It's capable of doing a full-fill, tap-hot wash. The dryer is DE62T-something-or-other (or DG if gas).
Allen/funktionalart, F&P in the U.S. has some relation to Whirlpool. Whirlpool used F&P's SmartDrive motor and floating basket design for all Oasis/Cabrio/Bravos machines until the belt-drive VMW design came about. It's still used for the upper-end Cabrio and Bravos, AFAIK.

In the US, GE was the first to take F&P to bed. They had the Monogram Smart-drive washer several years(15+) ago.

Some F&P dryers (not this one) are made by GE.
