Just got one in to replace a $100 Swiss Diamond that lost nearly all its non stick stuff.

Frig, this is MN made so you'll appreciate the fact I sought out USA made cookware and the fact it is made in MN is icing on the cake would you agree?

Already I fried mass produced non union factory eggs and made flapjacks. I must say it heats as evenly as my beloved Lodge Cast iron beast but is much lighter. With a bare minimum of veg oil, I might add. Sure it is hand wash but that does not bother me. After all the Lodge is hand wash also (but I use salt to clean it rather than soap)

I don't know if it is oven safe and Nordic Ware site does not state one way or the other. In the few times I have used it, I am pretty impressed. How long the non POFA stick surface lasts is another matter.

At any rate, I was out $70 for both the skillet and a matching made in China lid with a vent hole. Shipping was free.

I think unless it's ceramic, it's probably a standard nonstick coating--more or less. I think I recall these pans at Target, and the coating certainly seemed like conventional Teflon as far as look and feel.

I think the durability probably has more to do with other factors. The overall quality of the pan, and I think non-stick coatings that are basically the same may vary in quality.

I have to assume Nordic Ware should give good service. I was impressed by the pans I saw at Target. It may not be a lifetime pan, of course. I bet it will last longer than a $8 nonstick pan.

I get by without nonstick, although sometimes I wish I had it. For me, I have considered one nonstick pan that can be used for things that might stick, such as non-factory farm eggs. Although...at times I wonder if going all non-stick wouldn't be a good choice given my circumstances of A) no dishwasher B) hatred of doing dishes and C) the fact I'm basically a lazy sloth.

Per nordic ware site

pan has lifetime warranty.

I sauteed periogies tonight with onions and butter. Wednesday I'll make Made Rites again, haven't had those in a while.

pan has lifetime warranty

That's a hopeful sign. Of course, it may be "the expected lifetime of the pan", which might be considerably shorter than what those of us who like to buy once and never replace would like...

Or a lifetime warranty could be "for the lifetime of a fruit fly." But I imagine Nordic Ware would consider lifetime to be a longer time than that. Chinese made junk, on the other hand...

Ben-- Nordic Ware certainly is a Minnesota institution. My experience with the brand is almost nil, as the only product I had was their steak sizzler plates. Those were divested along with the gas grill in The Great Downsizing of 2014. I grew up in a town of old-school Norwegians so Nordic Ware was very popular, especially their fancy, heavy, specialty cake pans (Yule Log; Gingerbread House; Castle; etc.). There were women who would have nothing but Nordic Ware in their cookware/bakeware collection. I'm a diehard All-Clad stainless steel cookware guy. Glad you like your new pan and thanks for supporting a Minnesota business!

Aside: All-Clad's multi-layer cookware is made in Canonsburg, PA. Single layer items like lids are made in China.[this post was last edited: 8/22/2016-21:19]
