I am selling the white 59-WCI. The pics of the washer are on thread #18355. I will possibly trade or work a deal for a white 60-WCI. The 59-WCI would be perfect for someone who has a passion for Frigidaire machines. If interested email me at [email protected].

Thanks!
Derrek

Did you get the capacitor/starting problem worked out?

Yeah if its the motor start capacitor it should be a relatively easy fix.

Hey guys,
I decided to sell this machine to someone who knows something at Multimatics.I decided to focus all my resources ( mainly money, time, etc) on trying to find my real dream machine "60-WCI". I know they are a rare find but I am still not giving up my search. When one does come up for sale, I know it will be a major score. Lately I have felt like the Lone Ranger in my quest for this machine. I noticed when I got the 59-WCI that all my "tech support" vanished. I can honestly say this experience with the 59-WCI left me cold. Good luck-JED with this washer!

Well, a 1960 is a MULTIMATIC!

I even offered a place for you to overnight when you came to pick-up your machine, but did not even get the courtesy of a reply. So if you are finding things are a bit cold, perhaps you should take the temperature of your own refrigerator.

Steve,
First of all...I know that a 1960 is a MULTIMATIC...I am not stupid. I have been collecting information over the past four years for this machine.
Second....I would have appreciated the invite but I never received an invite maybe you have me confused with someone else.
Third.....I was under the impression that this was to be a community of people helping-not judging- no matter what the circumstances- good or bad-or different!
Fourth...I have been nothing but nice, helpful, grateful, caring, showing good faith to people,understanding,uplifting-NO MATTER WHAT THE TOPIC IS OF THE DAY! Showing my happiness for every member who has a positive experience or even a "major score". I had tried to show and pass on "goodwill" to EVERYONE IN THE ORGANIZATION!
FINALLY....you right! Maybe I SHOULD MOVE TO A WARMER CLIMATE!

Tech Support?

Derrek, I all but emailed myself to Atlanta. I pointed you in the directions to start and what to look for. It honestly sounds like a belt issue, which, for a Multimatic regardless of year, is probably one of the most common problems.

Sorry, I don't understand the tech support comment.

Dave

Derrek,

I won't comment on the tech support problem - personally, I have found that even some of the folks with whom I have the greatest political and religious differences on line have jumped to help me with my thumper questions and problems.
But Tragimatics can be quite a challenge when it comes to their belts. My honey found a 1959 (might be a very very late 1958) in PANK. He was ecstatic, I was seeing days and weeks with a micrometer and tools, carefully balancing the belts against each other and the mechanisms in steps of 0.00001gram torque at a time.
Well, he showed his usual good judgment - our beauty in PANK had been totally rebuilt shortly before being taken out of service in the mid 1980's.
So, please - don't despair.

Dave & Panthera,

Dave-I have appreciated your help! You are one of very few that have been helpful-without the nasty comments, etc.

Panthera-Thanks for your insights- you are very insightful.

My washer has been sold as of last night! I am going to cut my losses and move on down the road.I am not mechanical. This is probably the wrong forum for me. No machine is worth this much hassle! Not even a 60-WCI!

Thanks to the few that have helped me!

NO worries folks

This washer will be in good hands! And a mutual search for a WCI-60 continues, for I know the thrill of find a TRUE dream machine. Thank you, Derrek.

Definitely,

You are the right person for this forum. I think you just maybe chose a machine which, not for nothing, ranks as the Tragimatic...the hardest thumper to work on of all times.

As for the mentality on Imperial, well...there is a very strong desire in this forum to concentrate on the exact, precise, expressed venue. Yes, a very small number of the queens here go out of their way to be nasty, but just ignore them. Ninety-nine percent of this forum is sweet, patient, helpful and friendly - just like Robert.

So let it roll off your back, stick around and learn - Robert's decision to let new people participate was enormously wise. It's what has kept us alive and going.

Oh, and, I've been keeping count. Since the flood, our thumper (and she's PANK!) has washed 37 loads of the ickiest, filthiest, mud and concrete and paint and general ickiness encrusted stuff cleaner than clean...and those are just the loads I've run. My partner has run at least as many, if not more. Not one single problem, not one single torn anything or ripped off button.

Ok, well I thought perhaps you wanted to sell it because the machine didn't come with the customary box of Tide in it.

I don't really know what you expect from other club members. We are not going to search basements, or knock on doors to find you a 1960 machine. That would be something that you do with your spare time.

Also, I did take the time to post a reply in ref. to the problem you have with your 1959. You never posted anything in return. So who has the cold shoulder, and who would be giving it out?

Thanks so much for you kind comments! I have truely met some outstanding individuals in this arena. Mark aka LightenedControls is one of the finest people I have had the pleasure of meeting! TrainGuy & Mustangman both Rich's are awesome as well! Davy1063 aka Dave is a very kind and helpful person. He has always had alot of goodwill and kindness towards me and other members. I am funny when it comes to the 60-WCI. It represents my childhood which was filled with love, strong family values, and mutual respect for other people! My grandmother "MIMI' had this set in sunny yellow. She washed many diapers for myself and my sister. One day when the washer gods smile on me and I land this machine- I know that "MIMI" will be smiling down on me from heaven!

OK now I'm pissed after reading this guys comments

First of all a big YAY goes out to Jed, congratulations Jed I can't think of a more suitable and caring home for that beautiful 1959 Custom Imperial. Now you'll have working Unimatic and Multimatic, that's totally cool!

I can honestly say this experience with the 59-WCI left me cold.
I really don't think that is fair. You posted that you needed help less than 36 hours ago, you took and posted no new pictures to share your find with the club. You got a very GOOD response to your question from RickR ("The humming sound may be the motor start capacitor. The start cap is easy to replace, and only cost about $10.00 or so. The motor cap is located in the control panel in my 60, however it may be located on the side of the motor on a 59. The motor capacitor is black bakelite, and round. Two wires attach to it. If the cap is attached to the side of the motor, it will be under a protective metal shield. Be sure the power is disconnected before you try to work on your machine.") Did you even try to check out the capacitor or even thank Rick with a response? I bet not.

If you expect to take a 50+ year old washer off of the pallet, hook it up, put on an flowery apron and walk up to it with a pink basket full of clothes you are making a big mistake. A WCI-59 Multimatic is almost EXACTLY the same underneath as a WCI-60 with a few minor exceptions. If you plan on using a machine like that you are gonna have to learn to work on it, period! I can guarantee you what's going to happen if you call Minnegasco-ServicePlus to come out and "fix" my washer.

Maybe I SHOULD MOVE TO A WARMER CLIMATE!
Uh huh, nice, see ya in the Sahara.

rickr,
Point taken.I have written to you several times concerning my desire for a 60-WCI. I have even offered to buy your 60-WCI. I am an adult. I have nevered mentioned to anyone that I would like them to do all my leg work for the 60-WCI. The only thing I have ever said was that I would appreciate anyone keeping me in mind when they searching for their dream machine. I have offered nothing but good wishes for most members in their own pursuit. I have also said that I would pay a fair price and arrange for shipping if a 60-WCI was ever found or if someone would consider selling their own 60-WCI. Everytime a 60-WCI has been found- I have sent my best wishes! Maybe my desire for a 60-WCI is too strong....but I can dream like every person that belongs this orgaization~

Unimatic1140,
Who died and left you in charge! NO! I DIDN'T APPRECIATE ANYTHING THAT YOU SAID OR REPRESENT! YOUR COMMENTS ARE EXACTLY WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT! YOU MAKE ME SICK WITH YOUR HOLLY THAN THOU ATTITUDE! I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR CRAPPY OPIONS- YES - I CAN HAVE A SAY IN WHAT I THINK OR FEEL! YOU MAKE ALL THESE COMMENTS ABOUT ME -YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME! I DON'T WEAR APRON AND EVEN IF I DID- IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! YEAH MAYBE YOU SHOULD GO TO A WARMER CLIMATE BUT IT IS NOT THE SAHARA- NOR IS IT HEAVEN! I know what a MULTIMATIC IS AND THE YEARS IN WHICH THEY WERE MADE! I KNOW A 60-WCI IS THE SAME AS A 59-WCI! JERK-FACE! YOU MAKE ME SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
