For sale Kelvinator dishwasher coppertone

kind of an oddball. Kelvinator was made in Grand Rapids, so I see a lot of them. Usually they are of very high quality, especially fridges. Don't know how familiar the rest of you are with the brand. Matt

Love the round pushbuttons. It reminds me a of a brand called MagicMaid. If anyone does get this, I actually have a compatible cutlery basket from a late 60's Kelvy that I foolishly scrapped when I was offered an almost brand new 1999 Beaumark (A Canadian GE clone)...
Also, the trademark "K" looks different - I am guessing D&M must've made this one...

am i mistaken or is that not a D&M dishwasher made for kelvinator. looks just like the old "modern maid" and "kenmore" dishwashers i remember as a teen. the pump and spray arms are identical and the door is the same. racks look different but what the hell, my guess is D&M made.

Yeah - sourced from D&M no doubt. American Motors must have closed the laundry factory prior to the sale of the appliance division in the late 60's. Some Kelvinator laundry was sourced from Norge for only a year or so before becoming part of Franklin/WCI.

Here is a Norge d/w that is nearly identical in construction from about 68-69.

Kelvinator D&M

Definatly a D & M - I like the design of these models. This is before they changed the designs for many of them and put the big arm on top and a tower in the middle. They should have kept this origional design. Sears really did the most with these models.
I would really love to see more of these types of models.

My friends up the street had an O'Keefe & Merritt by D&M with the upper wash arm and center tower. It was very well made, quiet, and had about ten pushbuttons and timer. It took quite a long time for the complete cycle, over an hour. It was not the best at cleaning. You had to prerinse well or food particles clogged the spray holes in the upper arm. If I remember correctly it had a white porcelain tub and yellow racks. I think it had a couple lights as well. I bet they still have it.

Definitely D&M, but a capable design. Love how it comes with a dish rack just in case it doesn't perform to your specs--almost like a wringer washer equivalent in dishwashing! :-D

Unusual top rack--I've never had any D&Ms of this vintage that weren't Roto-Racks, so I'd be keen on seeing it pulled-out. The loading appears unusual.
