This question is for MEN ONLY (sorry Laundress and to the other females that may frequent this site)!

OK...I'm taking up walking again (I returned to this little venture about 2 weeks ago). Dr. says I need to lose a few lbs.. I'm averaging about 4 miles per walking session, 3 times a week.

My problem: I generally wear regular underwear under my shorts, but have noticed chafing in that area, and at times, it gets REALLY irritated.

Is there a special brief that is out there for this situation? How about just regular boxer shorts or even boxer briefs? I've read that there are a few products that can be used and applied ahead of time (even petroleum jelly, but dont want the hassle of washing it out of my uh...well, you know). and can't afford the other products right now.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Bill

I have had to wear briefs since the doctor had me switch after scrotal surgery. I have found the diaper rash ointment works.

Phooey

Life should be easier. Use deodorant to cut down on sweating and stinging. Ointments with zinc help and so does gentian violet. I wear bikers/sagger type underwear that is latex, fits like biker shorts and comes down to the knee. No more problems. When ever my weight breaks 220 my thighs begin to rub and if wear corduroy I sound like a Creole band and my pants catch on fire.

I suffer from intermittant chaffing too...

All I can suggest is that you make sure you:

- are 'dry' there after a shower before getting dressed
- use some baby powder

Sometimes underwear can cause this because we get larger and we don't 'update' the packaging (so to speak). Consider buying a couple of pairs of briefs the next size up and see how you go.

Yes, biker shorts (or compression shorts found in the sporting goods area) that come all the way down to the knee help alot.....

now very important.....after your walk....wash and rinse area completely.....PAT dry, DO NOT RUB, and use a BLOW DRYER (watch it guys!) to completely dry area, and then apply powder with a PUFF.....

this will help with any chaffing and from any jock itch infections......

were glad to see you exercising by walking.....you can also improve the muscles in your legs by using a THIGH MASTER....be careful with how much strength you need....you don't want to snap someones head off during those intimate times....lol

I second the soft jockstrap suggestion. Forget boxers unless slapped nuts is your idea of a good time.

I use Gold Bond-type medicated powder down there. I buy the generic version from Dollar Tree. And like Chris said, make sure your dry there.

The Lycra Knee Length underpants have been a godsend for me.

Wear em without underpants, and once you find a brand/style that fits, you need never experience chaffing when exercising again.

Powder!

Preferably corn-starch instead of talc. The Publix brand corn-starch powder actually doesn't smell like a 6-month-old...

...not that I personally use it of course. I'm just saying...oh never mind.
