I can't tell you the exact year, but the hardware store I worked at in the Summer of '77 had one on display. Seems like I saw them on sale for several years. Also think I saw them in gold.
We had one of those that had the blue plastic tub....Mom used it just to wash things like nylons and such......it finally met its end when the timer shot craps
