Oreck

Is it realy Oreck-----or is it A wreck??????

Every Vacuum shop I have been in had these in a pile to be trashed.I had one and wasn't that impressed.their cordless irons are pretty good but,I think they're made by West Bend(Maytag owned).

They build those here, now. I don't know if they're any good, but they are expensive.

In my opinion, a POS for the money they charge, but good for fast, easy cleanups. Not a bad buy if it was short $. Just my 2 cents.

I love my Oreck. I have a model XL21, which is an upgrade from the one you have pictured. A lot of people criticize them, but in my opinion, they are what they are, a vacuum to be used for quick pickups between extensive vacuuming. Nevertheless, the same model I have outcleaned several more popular brands (ie: Dyson, Kirby, etc.) at our last VCCC Convention. Several of our members were quite surprised. Orecks are pleantiful in the hotel and housecleaning industries and can take a real beating before giving up the ghost, which is why there are so many that are in a trash pile. Most of us in this forum tend to take good care of our appliances so this machine should last you a long time and it grooms the carpeting very well.

very nice find.........amazing what you can find at thrift stores...especially if you can haggle the price....can't begin to tell you the things i have bought...somethings still new in box....and cheap...just keep shopping, shopping, shopping...lol

Pete's trash day is too far off, you'd better send it here for proper disposal!

They aren't bad machines for quick cleaning, low pile carpets, etc. I wouldn't expect it to deep-clean though, it's just not designed for that. For someone that is older and prefers a lightweight cleaner they can carry from floor-to-floor, etc., this is a perfect choice.

Have to agree with Robb and Greg here. My first experience with an Oreck was at Greg's. When you are in the business of cleaning houses you really don't have the time to spend deep cleaning carpets. You want something that is going to be easy to use, fast, grooms the carpet well, and does an OK job. The Oreck is perfect for that. Yes, they are terribly overpriced but then many things are today. Gary, I don't know what you paid for it but I do think you are going to enjoy it.

amazing what you can find at thrift stores...especially if y

As much as I may grumble about the vacs Rich brings home, his Oreck was FREE at the transfer station, and in 100% working condition!

Love my ORECK stuff

I have the Oreck classic upright and the Oreck Orbiter floor machine. Have tons of wood floors and a basement and garage. Both machines have paid for themselves time and again - especially the Orbiter. The Orbiter is used on the deck, garage floor, basement and buffs out scratches on my wood floors.
The house is cleaned with all Oreck cleaning supplies. The house always smells clean but not like cleaning fluid. I prefer a house that smells of nothing rather than scents.
Sorry to sound like a commercial. I am not affiliated with Oreck in any way. American company I like to patronize. Their showroom is nearby and they are very helpful with parts and supplies. I feel it is well worth the price.

i have used an oreck

I have used an Oreck, and i dont think they are too bad, the one i used at a business was strong enough to suck the hair off of a dog's back from across the room and the floors were really clean after. I was impressed with the oreck.

Orecks

are actually good machines if you don't expect them to be a full size, full power machine. I think they are only about 4 maybe 4.5 amps with a rather small fan. They have a pretty quick brushroll that does a good job of grooming carpets. Think of it as a small economy car compared to a full sized Lincoln. It was designed for different duties.

Excellent for quick clean ups, easy to handle, and the perfect choice for a person with limited abilities. I think you have a good find.

What others have said they are very good on low pile carpet, but just so-so on thicker carpeting.

Oreck

Yup Ditto....They are great foe quick clean-ups and low to med.pile. I work in a hospital with a fair amount of commercial rug and for some reason when I worked in housekeeping my boss decided to "try" a few. Well we got 5 brand new ones and the did a great job for the carpet we have, but in about 4 weeks the brush roll on 4 of the 5 vacs were completely worn, I was like did they forget the glue on these ones? My boss called ORECK and they said sorry that is a maitenece item...he said he understood but 4 weeks c'mon I was going to get 5 mor if they worked good. Oreck said thank you for your purchace and could not give the 4 brushrolls for less than 24.99 each. Anyway Im babbling cause im tired but they do work ok but way over priced.
