Free Immaculate 1990 [ ? ] GE Filter Flow - Portland, OR

I am not sure but believe the washer is a 1990. There is a 1991 GE brochure posted here;

This washer is a 10 cycle 2 speed but does not have the fifth speed control button. So I am thinking it is a year older. I had posted a message in the "Deluxe" section asking about the problem it developed. A minor problem in the transmission which prevents the drum from spinning according to a knowledgeable member here.
The machine is in immaculate condition and operates perfectly except for no spin. Pumps water out fine. No rust or damage to the case and no chips in the drum. I am moving to a subsidized low income apartment and the machine will be left behind in the house which will be torn down for commercial development. So the machine will most likely be left in the house as it is torn down or picked up by a scrap dealer.
I really hope someone can save this fabulous machine from the scrappers. Used appliance dealers don't want to bother with it. I will turn my keys to the place on Dec 9 and the washer will be lost to history after that.

Look for them only in brochures...

That model is probably that last of the late great Filter-Flo's, not a 1990 more like mid-nineties right before they trashed the filter pan and went to a Hotpoint-style filter ring and decimated the plant in  Louisville, KY (that's in the USA) because Jack Welch was such a winner and SUCH a great American businessman--what the right-wingers like to call a "Job Creator".

 

Add a mini-basket to that model you have there (and I can tell you how) and you have it as good as it gets.

This one did originally have a mini-basket; if you look at the water level switch you can see the indication for that condition.  This was pretty much TOL, only one higher up (depending on your opinion) would have had the 5 "programs" similar to the late 50's and early 60's models that we all lust after.  This one is actually more versatile in that it has separate speed control and temperature controls.

 

Nice machine - I hope someone in the NW is willing to take up the offer!

I checked the catalog (Pub. No. 1-G033; FET. 9/93) and this is a WWA890R.  Description:

 

"Extra-Large Capacity with Exclusive Mini-Basket Wash System; 10 cycles, including extra rinse option and PreWash; 2 speeds with 4 wash/spin speed combinations; Variable water levels; 4 wash/rinse temperature settings; Bleach and fabric softener dispensers; Exclusive Filter-Flo filter system; Shown in White on white, but also available in White, Almond or Harvest with black control panel."

Going to the scrapper

I am going to pull all the wiring loose below and remove the top with console and save them with the wiring. For what I don't know but I can't stand to see it all go to recycling. Maybe I can sell the top and console at eBay some day ? I think a person could update a lesser two speed model that way.

Also save the agitator, mini-basket, filter pan, and softner dispener.

I can not get the agitator loose

Any suggestions on getting agitator loose ? Should it just pull up and off ? I have tried that repeatedly with no luck.

Since I bought the washer used I never got the mini basket with it.
