Well, my 17 yr old GE fridge finally seems to have taken a dump. Or at least it won't cool the fridge below 42 degrees mostly empty, when full it spoiled a lot of food - hitting 58 degrees before we noticed. Oddly enough, the freezer part is fine.
Anyway, we ended up with 2 more freezers, a total of 27.5 cu ft freezer space, of which the fridge freezer contributed about 2.5 cu ft. We think we can lose some freezer space to get more fridge space. Looking at our local appliance store(s) website, we like the look and style of the Whirlpool WRR56X18FW. I know it's not a top of the line anything, but may actually meet our needs and be far kinder to our budget than something more high end.
What we don't want is any sort of touchscreen, internet connectivity, or built in ice maker etc. Just a fridge, maybe with a simple top freezer if it's a big difference in quality. Are there any red flags for that Whirlpool? Any better recommendations in that sort of style and size (that is about as big as will fit)?
We've tried to get local appliance stores to service the existing fridge, but have been told it's not possible or not cost effective.
