Hi everyone,

This might be more relevant to our UK and European members, but a new French brand De Dietrich is about to launch here in Australia with a range of kitchen and laundry appliances.

I'd be keen to know if anyone knows anything about them, especially the washer and heat pump dryer.

In Australia, at least, they're apparently wanting to compete with the likes of Miele, vZug, Bosch.

The pricing is AU$1499 (about US$980 at current exchange rates) and AU$1699 for the dryer.

De Dietrich washer

I'd be keen to know any thoughts.

Thanks
Leon

De Dietrich is part of the Brandt group.

I don’t know anything about the reliability of the brand. Their appliances aren’t sold in the Netherlands.

Perhaps you remember that Brandt H-axis toploaders were sold under the Speed Queen label in Australia.
Interesting to know the connection. Thanks

Yes, I remember the H Axis top loaders sold as Kleenmaid (Speed Queen)

You still see them come up.for sale from time to time.

It's no longer first thing in the morning - so I decided to check If I'd find a Vestel machine on Australian online retailers.

There was a much more low end Vestel made machine for about 700 Aussie dollars.
But that was about it.
That machine in the original post is pretty much TOL.
The equivalent washer over here is 379€:
https://www.otto.de/p/share/n/1756272640
If the DeDietrich has AutoDose it would be 20€ more.

That would be something in the range of 700-750 aussie dollars.
Unfortunately, I really can't find a comparable model on the Australian market.

What to say about Vestel?
Entry level brand. Barely recommendable IMO given you can LGs for the same money in Australia.
Not best reliability wise - but in line with price.

They still have and have had for decades their 60min wash cycle.
Which is great and all with up to 60C and full spin.
But what use is a cycle with a single rinse and that blocks you using the extra rinse option?
What do I wash at 60 that would be remotely OK with 1 rinse?
And basically their whole cycle selection feels like that.
You get like 4 cycles that do the same on that DeDietrich: Cottons, Intensive (which is Cottons plus pre-wash), 20°C (Which is a Cottons 20C quick) and Colours (which is Cottons at 40 or lower).
Hygiene only spins at a reduced spin speed for some reason.

And their dryers are neither particularly fast, efficient, gentle or well built either.

But: They are cheap.
If you can get them for the equivalent we get them for (400€ for the TOL, below 800 aussie dollars) and you don't mind working around the machines restrictions at least the dryer can be a decent deal.
For the washer, I just wouldn't. A Haier is about the same price and gives you logical and useful cycles at least.
