I finally found a local store that carries Fresh Start detergent. My grandma used it for a zillion years and loved it. It's probably changed from the 80's but am excited to try it out again.....

Out of curiosity, when you get a chance, could you check the label and see what company is putting it out?

Thanks!

buy online

love it, smells great, low sudsding ........... you can buy it on line at drugstore.com I think ........

I thought Colgate-Palmolive sold off all their detergent brands.

Could this be old stock, or maybe they're resurrecting the brand for their stable?

At any rate, agree with you all. It was a good low-sudser, bracing fragrance, and not particularly fading in the water I had at the time.

It was also surprisingly affordable, as was another CG offering at the time, the first-generation "Ajax Ultra" in the compact boxes.

"The official Detergent"

Isn't "Fresh Start" the official detergent here at Automatic Washers-to be treated almost like a sacrement when we have a wash-in or a convention? At least as far as currently available detergents is concerned...

Vintage detergents are also sacred here in the washer family

David, I agree! Fresh Start had very high importance at the 2005 Convention, so it's safe to say that it's the official detergent for AW.org!

And, Fresh Start is definitely the detergent of choice for the Texas wash-ins...:)

I was lucky enough to find 4 bottles of Fresh Start at a Hy-Vee grocery store in Mankato, MN, back in September. I snagged all four. Good thing, too, because they've stopped carrying it.

Also absent from the shelves is the Oxi-Clean detergent ball, surprise, surprise. Fortunately, I scarfed up every package of it I could find (I have several years' worth of it) because it's nowhere to be found in my area anymore. I love it for bath towel loads because it doesn't produce suds, so I don't have to use softener in my frontloader. My hyper-soft water always forced me to use some softener to break down the suds in the final rinse when using other detergents.

Greg!

Thank you for telling me where to find Fresh Start. It was worth my "ordeal" yesterday to get it. I WILL get pictures posted of my fantastic Mobile Maid as soon as you come over to help me do it! As you know my computer and typing skills are not the best.... LOL! :)

Things are pretty "Fresh" around here!

I was always a Fresh Start user - Westy remembers it - and was disappointed when they no longer carried it in the Houston area. Thanks to my good buddies Frigilux and Westtexman, I am fully stocked (at least for a while)!!

I had a westy frontloader in the 80's and now I have an HE3. I loved how fresh start performed in the westy and i'd love to get my hands on some now. I know, I know,,,,,,, it's not what I used in the 80's. But, from what I've heard here--it sounds pretty D--n close to and I can go for that. Made at trip to wal-mart today (and i gotta tell you that is truly not my fravorite store). Didn't see any "fresh start" but did see "solo". Has anyone tryed that in their front loader "hE" machine and if so was it ok or sudsy???????
