Here is an email response I got from C-P regarding Fresh Start. This might help some of us looking for this great stuff:

Dear Peter

Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry that you are having
difficulty locating Fresh Start.

Our sales force works to sell all our products in as many stores and
geographic areas as possible. However, regional differences and
retailer conditions may create locations where certain products are not
available. Fresh Start is not currently available in your area.
Certainly, a first step in getting this product in a store near you is
to speak with your store manager. The store may not realize that there
is demand for it and may be willing to stock it regularly, or to
special order it for you.

If you have Internet access, there are several on-line retailers that
stock Colgate-Palmolive products. These include, among others:

If you are interested in purchasing our products by the case, there is
an independent distributor, DEI Services, Inc., that you can order
from, either via the Internet (www.buyitbythecase.com) or by phone
(1-800-798-8889).

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us. We hope this
information is helpful.

Sincerely,

Linda

Thanks Peter for posting...I thought Fresh Start, both vintage and modern, was absolutely great at the Convention but couldn't find any down here! Time to order some online...:)

Freshstart

wasn't that that powder detergent that came out in the early 80s that was in a clear plastic (liguid looking) bottle? I can't say that I have seen that around for a while either.

Good luck in your search.

Peter-----

Well alllllllright then! Now you can get it by the case!

I'm still fighting with Henkels to find out what the hell it will take to order some "Dixan"!I am currently at the stage of annoying them into submission!

I just saw Fresh Start here in Portland today. It's on sale at Winco for $4.67. I think it's a 44-load bottle. Does that size sound right?

Boy you got somebody good

I tried to get ahold of CP for Fresh Start and no one replied.
Cheapest price I found was by the case at
www.instawares.com

But CP looks like it is about to sell it off to a company called Phoenix Brands so right now it's future is uncertain.

Check out the link and buy now.

In the middle of a bottle which I bought at Harris Teeter up in Asheville NC. Size and price sounds about right.

Sad that H-T didn't make it in Atlanta--actually it was more a matter that they had to either get bigger or get out of the market (they did pretty well in ATL) but only had about 15 stores which weren't enough to compete with Kroger (>100) or Publix (>75) stores.

Easily available on-line

I just recently bought two bottles at drugstore.com. Each contained 44 loads, for over $4 (you'll pay even a little more for shipping). They were on my doorstep in about four days. The bottle is more rounded, and the contents more fragrant, than the earlier version.

I'm looking forward to using it, but have quite a few other brands to use up before then. The last time I used Fresh Start, I bought it from Big Lots - a discount clearing house store up here - about two years ago. It was the old style formula, and I recall that it had good cleaning quality and was very low-sudsing....worked well in my front-loader.
