Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

THANKS BOB<br
I should have remembered that Whirlpool and Sears are still in bed together with most of their appliances. Temporary dementia, I guess. I still get thrown off track by how much of my K/A is actually Whirlpool....like, all of it! I should have saved my money and bought Whirlpool. I do miss the good ol' days when the machines had a real forced air blower to help the dishes dry. Even my mother's Lady Kenmore (Modern Maid) had a blower. Has the concept of a blower motor been totally phased out of dishwashers, or do any brands still do use one?

John--- My LG has forced air drying, but there's not a heated dry option. My Maytag didn't have forced air drying and it did the job just as well as the LG. Frankly, I thought it was nice to have absolute silence after the final rinse. Your KA doesn't have forced air, eh? That surprises me.

No forced air here. Surprises me too. 5 years ago, the K/A "Architect Series" was TOL when I bought it. LG dishwashers were scarce down in my area. I certainly wish I had looked around more, as my LG laundry pair has been great for me (so far).

Glenn, I'm still amazed at what you can get in those Dishdrawers<br
Yay for Bob posting pictures!! They look great and it's fun to see your new dishwasher. Dumping oatmeal in the bottom...why does that not surprise me from one of us?<br
Bosch dishwashers can hold their own with the best of the "American" offerings as well - I would call that a full dishwasher<br
I'll have to get busy and take some pics of loads in the KDS-18 now.

I love the vintage KA lower rack with dinner plates facing front. My first KA ('84 or so) racked that way<br
I haven't tried Great Value detergent, but you and others at AW have given it a big thumbs-up. CR does, as well. Only about 5-cents per use, compared to something like 18-cents per use for liquid Cascade Complete. CR says the high-end Cascade does a little better on pots/pans and is a little less likely to etch glassware; but the scores between the two products are not far apart<br
A lovely load, Greg!

Bob I can hear your dishwasher screaming...HELP ME!!! I have a mad owner that loves to fill me to the brim and I pray I can wash everything and not disappoint
Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing a Frigidaire spintube dishwasher at work at Chuck and Rich's at the gathering. I was surprised at how quiet and fast the cycle was. I didnt get to see the results since he stopped the cycle midway for more dishes. But the next time we get together I will try my hand at loading it. I know I have to think straight lines from the center for wash action. Still was amazed that there was no lock for the door and it shut off when the door was opened.

Load earlier this week

Bottom rack. And yes, I used TurboZone option, that's why that cassarole dish is facing backwards. Came out completely clean!!
