Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Yay -- Good pictures of the KM HE - did they come out clean? Hee hee<br
I should have taken pictures of my KDS-18 load last night - I kept adding things until I thought I was going to have to pull out the Danby! Triple the water used compared to the KM HE but then it did take less than 60 min. on Normal Wash (excluding no-heat dry

Cool Pictures Leslie!

Leslie,
Is this a Kenmore Elite?
I do like the spray arm! Looks very "pin - pointed" as far as direction goes! Sounds like it does a very good job. I have often wondered about the Kenmore and Whirlpool being better performers because of the wash arm. It seems to me that with the "hydro-sweep" that is used in the Kitchenaid version, that you would loose some water pressure with the lower water fills, and smaller pumps and motor. Meaning that you have 4 cylinders to fill with water and create pressure, than just the two
I am all for a good performing dishwasher, using less water, and I agree, saving energy is important for everyone, during this time in the USA
However....I do like my KDS-18 and KDS-19. It is done as Greg has stated in no time, and you can op out for heating drying on the 18 if you want to save some energy. I honestly can cram either of the models with so much stuff, and I am never let down on cleaning. I do use Pots & Pans for dirty, encrusted baked utensils. That is rare though. Since I have two, I will dedicate one for just baked on junk, and run the "pots and nasty pans" cycle
In short, I am glad by your testing that the newer energy efficient dishwasher will clean. I guess that is the bottom line to running the dishwasher in the first place. The reason I say this is because I think that there are so many "Energy Green" dishwashers out there, that don't pass this test! So thanks for letting us know yours does
Thanks for the pictures
Bren

Leslie, I have a question. Looks like the TurboZone option was turned on, but that roaster pan wasn't facing the back of the dishwasher. So, what worked out with this?

Brent

yes this is an Elite with the High Efficiency wash system. It cleans really really well with a minimum of water and energy use. The sound level is so low it is nearly inaudible. The only time you hear it is when the drain pump is on briely from time to time. <br
The Smart wash cycle figures out what is best for a regular dishload based on size and amount of soil--loose or baked on. The Turbo Zone option works as advertised and adds a lot of flexibility to the lower rack<br
The 1 hour wash cycle is handy for situations like this evening where I had back to back loads. All the china, glassware & flatware washed & dried in about 90 minutes. Then the Pots and Pans load shown above, got the spa treatment. The 2+ hour SmartWash cycle caused no inconvenience as it was the last dishload of the day. <br
So far there has been no need to engage the high temp wash or pots and pans cycles. Using good enzyme detergents; the long main wash time gets really dirty things clean<br
The China/Crystal cycle is very nice as it is a reduced pressure and temperature cycle, that handles delicate things well, delicately. But it is powerful enough to clean thoroughly too. <br
Brent there are several new KitchenAid and Whirlpool dishwasher models that have this new wash system. The KitchenAid versions have a 2 way wash arm similar to the one shown above. The familiar 4 way Hydro-sweep will not work with this new system<br
Regarding the porcelain tub KitchenAids I have a relative that has an Avocado KDS20 portable. It is like new. It is an amazing machine as is the 18. I had a KDS21 at one time and it was not my favorite. Very noisy and the upper rack cleaning was so so. Although others here have had different results with them. Also had a KDS24 and that was really good too. But this HE machine is the favorite. It does so much with so little<br<br<br

Bob

we use the Turbo Zone so often, I just hit the start button. It recalls the last cycle and evidently the Turbo Zone was selected. The Turbo Zone will work regardless of whether you load things facing that way or not<br
L.P.

Thanks for the responds Leslie!

That is wild that the new KitchenAid Version has a wash arm similar to this one. Say's a lot to my theory.
I think just as long as it cleans well, and is efficient, this is the matter at hand these days
I really like the looks of your dishwasher, and am glad to know that it cleans well. Hey, if I live through the dishwasher I have, I will have to buy a new one. I just want cleaning results
Of course this goes with the results of Bob's new Kenmore, and all of the others I fail to recall over the "Bob Loads"

I'm impressed . .

that our BobLoad thread has almost as many hits as the political and picture threads! It's amazing how a bunch of dirty dishes can bring our family together in such a bipartisan manner!<br
Great job Glenn, and of course, thanks to Bob for the inspiration of the BobLoad! <br
BTW guys, Fresh Start is on sale at the local supermarket! Are y'all running low? <br

Next load. I was up very late the night before making cassaroles for a sick coworkers to take to her. So, this got loaded at about 6:15 in the morning.
