Since I was messing with my fridge (see Other thread...) I decided it was time to replace my water filter. I bought 3 or 4 a few years back when my local Meijers closed, cheap. Anyway it's a PUR filter for my WP SxS. On the box it indicates it removes lead and mercury, looking on line none of the new filters show that. Is it just a false claim, or have they changed the filters?
I see all kinds of filters on line, no idea of the quality. I'd be hard pressed to pay $49 for a WP branded filter when I can get a 3 pack from AMazon for $24. I still have one new in the box, so I'm good for a while, though I put the date on the filter and the one I replaced as from 6/13/16 so a bit over due...
looking at this one on Amazon it indicates it does reduce lead and many other things, it's rated <span class="askTopQandA"><span id="TxSAPTZF2NHI83" class="askInlineAnswers" style="display: inline;">NSF/ANSI 53, which I gather is a higher standard then 42.
