I have a Frigidaire 2140 FL Washing Machine which I bought new in 2010 after the new Kenmore TL I had bough a few months before died. This just started happening a few days ago. If I wash something on HEAVY, the normal tumbling action lasts for about 5 minutes then just stops then the machine kicks off. Everything appears to work fine on the other settings. Bad control board?

Thanks for the reply. I too thought it may possibly be the door latch. There is no buzzing sound which one would hear if the latch wasn't fully engaged. The washer works fine for maybe a few minutes after it fills up for the first time before it stops. It turns itself off about 5-10 after that. I guess I will start looking for a new motherboard. I actually like this washer as long as too much soap is not used.

Hey PassatDoc

Knock on the nearest wood you can find. Not because your washer isn't good, but because you said there has never had a repair done it. Last time I said that, My GE Profile TL, broke a week later. Just sayin. LOL

I'll dig on YouTube and see if there is a video on how to do a diagnostic on the Frigidaire 2140 unless someone has directions on how to do it.

I thought it was the control board. I ordered and installed a new replacement and the problem still exists.

I then thought it was the door latch module which is easy to replace so I replaced it and still the problem exists.

GRRR!!!

Hm, the link works for me...

I just tried to send you the manual to you gmx. It's big - not sure if your inbox allows such large files.

The manual says to:

Disconnect the plug from the drive motor and measure the resistance pins 4 & 5 in the motor. If the reading is between 105 & 130 Ohms, replace the speed control board. If the meter reads other than between 105 & 130 Ohms, replace the motor.

The link is now working and I also received the manual so thank you for sending it to me. I bought a cheap multimeter and tested the resistance of pins 4 and 5. With the plug plugged in, I was getting 117.5 Ω on the back of the plug. The bare pins on the motor tested at 118.5 Ω. Looks like a new speed control board for me. Does anyone have a source for low prices on these?
