Any one ever seen a Frigidaire Wall oven having a pair of center opening doors? Some commercial ovens I see today (Vulcan) have a similar design. Around what year(s) were such models made? There was a type of heat guard that would pop out too to help protect the controls above the opening too. Personally I thought the design great for small kitchens. The only ones I have seen have a "brushed chrome" front with white handles and knobs. Featuring a rotary clock with auto timer and a separate 1 hour timer.

I believe they offered oven doors in the style in Jimmy's link on free standing ranges as well. On their standard door built in ovens, they had a feature where you could drop the oven door completely down out of the way to make it easier to get in there and clean. This before the days of self cleaning ovens and removable oven doors.

I've seen some built in ovens more recently with side swing doors, but I haven't seen these doors repeated, at least personally, on a home oven. It would be working with something a bit different, but I can see the advantages.

Gaggenau has models with a single side-swing door. I've seen some at Expo Design Center.

Frigidaire still makes the (single) side-swing wall oven in Quebec. The french door wall oven design probably is from the late 50s..I've got an acquaintance with a house built in about '59 with the stainless french door Frigidaire wall oven and the tilt-up cooktop units.

Hey Mixguy, this morning I posted a thread entitled "Bertoia, Saarinen, van der Rohe, Herman Miller, and Frigidaire," and included a part one video made in 1958, that has footage of your center door oven. The whole video should be viewed, but part one has a lot of great mid century items in it.
