Frigidaire Custom Imperial Dryer Question

Hello all. When I bought the place I live in, it had an old dryer in it already. It is actually the best dryer I've ever owned. However, recently the heating element has cracked a couple different times. I would love to replace it, but can't find anyone who sells them. The model number is DCIAL. According to a vintage repair place, the part number would be 75337444.

Do you all know if there are places that still do? Or perhaps maybe using one of those coil replacement kits in it? I wasn't sure of those, because in one spot it appears the coil is soldered to the connecting post that one of the wires goes to on the backside of the plate. The other ends are all screw on nut types. I wasn't sure if these kits replaced that one in particular or what?

I'm fairly new to all this stuff, but have got it working a few times, and even managed to trace and repair the problem with my furnace on my own. So any help of insight would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to get rid of this dryer!

Hi Dave:

I am sure that someone on here will be able to provide more information about fixing that heating element as Frigidaire washers and dryers up through about 1980 are a big favorite here. I would try to save that dryer as I believe the model ending in "L" means that it is from 1967.

How about Larry at "Modern Parts" in Parma, Ohio...He may have access to it or knows a "Parts House" that does.... someone who does carry it...???? He is on line at this name and address. check this out....good luck....They are very Helpful and know vintage PARTS>>>>

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah I really want to keep it and get it going again. I think I am going to try to restring the element. I took it apart again last night and looked at it more closely. The ends that look soldered in will pop out through the ceramic piece if you remove the nut on the other side. I am going to try to take all of them out and take the stud with nuts on both sides to a hardware store. Attempt to match that setup and just order a new element coil with the same ratings/length. Should be able to just use the screw down ends everywhere at that point.

Sound like a good idea? Any reasons it wouldn't work? I honestly don't know, but it seems like a viable option.
