Good morning from snowny Denver. Started snowing last night and it still is as of 7 a.m. Haven't finished putting up Christmas decorations in yard for judging Wednesday.
I have posted many times to get my 1964 Frigidaire filtrator dryer going again. The wiring into the door heater broke( it runs thrugh the cabinet and through the door hinge) and Train Guy finally gave me a wiring harness. A friend who has wanted me to throw the fu@#ing dryer away finally started to help me with the wiring November 10th. There is a metal wire clip (see photo.) At the big end of the clip (left side of photo) is where the original wire insulation broke through causing the dryer to short out and not heat. The wires wore thriguh after many years of opening and closing the dryer door. We thought about heat shrinking my original wires that come through the door hinge and not reinstall the clip. So we decided not to use the harness that Train Guy sent.
Instead my friend cut the 5 wires way past the clip and was going to butt splice the ends to the rest of the original wires that go to the control panel. He did not want to install the wiring harness that Train Guy sent me since two of the wires had changed color coding comparing it to my harness.
Now here is the problem. During reinstallation of the door, while having the clip installed in the door glide/hinge and opening and closing the door several times we sprung the clip. We later saw that we should have removed the door hinge glide. I'm at my wits end. Is this clip needed? We thought it does because it relieves the tension on the wires when opening and closing the dryer door. We tried to bend the clip back but that does not work unless I use a vise. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I'll post a continuation to this post with another photo about the door hinge.
