I am trying to figure out what is wrong withh the motor start switch on my 1960 frigidaire dishwasher. I read Roberts thread on how to clean the contacts, and have done just that. However, I cannot get the right adjustment with spacers to get to zero ohms on the start switch. There is no continuity. Also the motor was taken apart in the past, so I'm not sure if something is missing, for instance, are there two springs that go on either side of the start switch? I only have one, and with only one spring installed, as I turn the motor, the start switch rocks like a seesaw. Does anyone know if there is supposed to be two springs opposing each other? Thank you for your help and consideration in advance!

Regards

Marty

Marty can you please take some pictures of what this particular start switch looks like, I've never had a Frigidaire dw motor apart as far as I can remember.

Marty there is only suppose to be one spring, but it has to be installed on the correct screw since there are two of those.  Are you sure you are not mixing them up?

There should be continuity when the plunger on the rotor shaft is in, no continuity when its out (pulled out via centrifugal force). You should be able to look in there to see if the contacts are touch in the start mode.

Help

Which side does the spring go and under or over the paddle? I've tried it in different positions and as I turn the rotor the pedal does not stay flat it seesaws..... Maybe the contacts are too worn?

Thanks for your patience:)
