I see Frigidaire also had the "skinny washer/fat dryer" syndrome.

Were Frigidaire non-condensing dryers always available in a gas version?

Nice set

Hi kenmore1978, I thought the same thing, skinny washer fat dryer is very noticeable in this POD. Is this the first year that occurred. I noticed in the collection pictures the
wo-65's and their mates seem the same width.

Thanks and what a beautiful set that is. Thanks again for sharing your pictures with us. alr2903.

I use them all the time. I did a load of towels today and nothing dries towels soft and fluffy like a Filtrator. I do about 3 or 4 loads a week in them. My son does his own laundry, but he uses the modern front loader...no one is allowed to touch these except me.

Umm, Richie, you said I'd always be allowed to use them without supervision anytime I came to visit, which means I'd have to "touch" them.

Mr Rich, never give these up

Few ever made were as classy and distinguished as these were. You truly have some treasures there and I'm glad they work so well. Oh what modern design and manufacturing could learn from the Frigidaire of old, if every damn thing didn't have to be a "cost consideration" (groan! snort!)

golittlesport-- Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I don't blame you for not letting your son touch them---even though I would have had a fit if my Mom would have told me to leave our Kenmore alone. Of course, at the time, our KM wasn't a vintage machine either, ha-ha.

Pardon my general ignorance (stop nodding your head, Uni!!) but is this a condenser dryer? If so, is the drawer at the bottom front where the water collects, or is it a lint filter? I've never been entirely clear on the whole Filtrator thing.

Frigidaire

Your washer & dryer are gorgeous!
This refers to the POD 3/7/05:
I guess the Pulsamatic was the bottom of the line Frigidaire.
I always wondered where it fit into the lineup.

Filtrator

Yes, the dryer is a Filtrator...an electric condenser dryer. There is a condenser unit drawer under the loading door and a water tray under the condenser unit. It was an ingenious design, and although it takes a bit longer to dry clothes, they come out soft and fluffy.

These beauties have been all across the country! The washer was found curbside by Jimmy Filter Flo in Ohio. It was this close to going to the crusher! Then it went to Greg Gansky1, who found the matching dryer. The washer, although cosmetically perfect on the outside needed some transmission work. After Greg got the washer, myself and several other club members went to Greg's home in Omaha one weekend to rebuild the Unimatic transmission under Robert Unimatic's guidance. That was very enlightening and a lot of fun.
Then I aquired the set. And they will go no further...they have found their permanent home. I grew up with this 1955 Imperial pair. Thanks everybody for your kind comments.
