Frigidaire Rotating Tub

I noticed on the WCI-58 Unimatic videos, after wash fill, there is a slight pause before wash or rinse agitation begins, and the tub rotates clockwise about 1/2 turn at the start of agitation. However, the 1965 Rollermatic goes directly into agitation from fill and the tub does not rotate. The water is rushing in and then, all of a sudden, "SLURP-SLURP-SLURP-SLURP" of the Deep Action agitator (combined with the interesting sound of the Rollermatic transmission), with no short pause whatsoever.

Was this just a characteristic of the Unimatic machines, or did the Pulsamatic and Multimatic machines rotate the tub at the start of agitation as well?

Only the Unimatics give a 1/2 tub turn at the start of pulsation as it has to unwind its clutch spring to shift out of spin mode into agitation mode.

The pause before the wash (there is no pause before rinse agitation) is due to the fact that there are two timers available for unimatic washers. The video shows the standard timer as in all of my Unimatics, the other timer is the Low water pressure timer, it uses that pause time to continue filling for another increment.

Why, after spinning, before the tub totally stops moving
does the pulsator sometimes start moving up & down while rinse fill begins?

Robert, I had no clue about a low water pressure timer. Did the machine "know" when it was low water pressure and kicked in that timer for the increment, or what? Very intrigued.

No Bob, you had to replace the entire timer with a low pressure fill version. They just did that to save money so the only difference between the two timers was the fill cam.

The 58 in the see it wash videos is one of the coolest if not the coolest machine. The pause after filling, then the little electrical buzz, then the chug chug chug of the unimatic. Oh how cool is that? I just love this machine-hope to find one someday close by-in yellow. BTW I enjoy the spin cycles also and the spin on the 65 Frigidaire with the moan and the revs going on.
