Ok you guys, I picked as a freebie yesterday a Frigidaire W/D stack unit. So pretty. So well built from its' outside looks. The folks I got it from said that it quit spinning. I decided to haul it off for them with hardly any plans on trying to repair it considering I hate Frigidaire washers and dryers. But curiosity killed the cat and I plugged it in (220) plug that controls the dyer and washer all together. No 110 plug at all. Well the thing washed great until the pumpout time, then it shut down. @0 minutes later it kicked back on. So now I know motor is going out. I open the front access panel to find that I have a Kenmore on my hands. Tickled pink I am at this time.15 minutes later I have it up and running with new motor. Then I dry my clothes in the thing. Fastest dryer I ever used. Can anyone tell me what years Kenmore made these units for Frigidaire to put their name on. I have a good mind to rip off the Frigidaire sticker and place me a Kenmore emblem in it's place. Such a flawless unit. Unlike some of the crappy Maytags stacks I've seen.

~some say Frigidaire top-load washers don't last so long. Is this a top-loader?

What gave it away?

Now that is putting the cart before the horse. 0000 was the year. Sears sticks the Kenmore name on everybody else's products.

I take it you now like them? Isn't a bad motor a flaw?

The important thing is that you got them for free; were able to fix them; like them and now think better of Frigidaire.

ENJOY!

love fridigiarre waser/dryer set

i have my second unit . the first one was sold with my house, and as soon i got into my condo, i purchased it again. its 2 1/2 years old, 3.1 front loader. the only issue i have now is that the gas dryer stopped getting hot. no heat comes into the dryer. i am being told it may be an inexpensive repair. does anyone have any thoughts as to why it stopped working? still tumble, but no heat. i dont hear any clicking of the gas going on.. any suggestions would be appreciated...
ive decided if its over 200 buck to repair, i will replace with a new frid wash/dry set. ive been very happy with the performance of the fridges...

always start with the thermal fuse,if you dont hear the initial click of the gas coils when you start the dryer, thats usually the problem.you should see a piece about an inch long with 2 wires plugged into it connected to the exaust duct, tape them together and try the dryer.if thats not the problem then i would look for any burned spot on the igniter,if the igniter is good then it is more than likely the 2 round black coils, but since the dryer is only 2 years old it would probably be the thermal fuse or the igniter,if its the fuse check your exaust hose for lint build up.

Toggle, What gave the fact that it was kenmore built was the pump, motor, and coipling system between the motor and trannie, the agitator was kenmore by it's looks. As far as seeing motors go out on kenmore washers, it does happen. All motors didn;t come from teh factory built the same. Maybe the motor was bad from day one due to some crappy workmanship at the factory. I used to work at a factory andcan tell you that after lunch on a Friday, quality went down noticably. do the math. It was almost quitting time. But any fool can loo inside this machine and tell that it has zero Frigidaire technology in it. anyways, I just sold it last night for 200.00.

Kenmore does not build appliances, but rebadges appliances built by other maunfacturers with their name. Kenmore washers are mainly built by Whirlpool, with a few models being built by Electrolux/Frigidaire.

Well Whirlpool may build em but i can tell you from personal exprience that Kenmore has more quality built into them than Whirlpool does. What I mean by that is that the consoles are better built on Kenmores. I know the guts are the same on Kenmore,Roper and whirlpools but I can tell the quality difs on the outsides of these machines.

From What I've Been Told

It is not like a manufacturer simply slaps a Kenmore name on appliances as they roll off the production line. Long before Walmart, Sears would insist that manufacturers make changes to an appliance to suit their specs, then the appliances are produced in "leased factory" batches. That is to say for period of time a factory will only put out Kenmore appliances, then go back to making whatever models the makers puts out.

The above is the reason that despite some appliances having poor ratings in terms of quality, service, and such, a similar model under the Kenmore brand gives better performance. Time and time again, Kenmore appliances out rated their cousins in Consumer Reports which one would think is surprising since they all come from the same plant.
