The 1-18 is a great washer for bulky items - I've had turnover and thus, washing action, stop in those if they are too full but that's why we stand over them and watch every second. In case they need "help" during the cycle!
Those High Fashion machines were absolutely the coolest - never have seen the washer but Don S. (jetaction) and I saw the dryer in brown being used as a filing cabinet and TV stand at a shop in Ohio a number of years ago. This washer had dispensers for bleach and softener inside the left-hand door and was the "WXN" series that had a variable speed option for wash and spin. It was a dreadfully complicated clutch system that bombed pretty quickly, as did those from Whirlpool/Kenmore, GE, Hotpoint, etc. I have one of the "WXN" Rollermatic mechanisms out in the shed that would be fun to play with someday...
