Stumbled upon this, thought some here might get a chuckle...

"Christian fundamentalists are suggesting gays and lesbians are to blame for Wall Street's woes, a frequently made charge in the wake of national calamities.

In a September 25th blog post titled 'The Nation Will Right Itself If It Fixes Sex', Christian Civil League of Maine Executive Director Michael Heath writes that the financial crisis facing Wall Street is a symptom of America's sinful sexual culture, including the acceptance of gay unions.

“Our crisis is a symptom, not the cause,” writes Michael Heath. “I am not saying I know whether this financial crisis is God's judgment or not. It is not for me to know that definitively.”

Heath goes on to list policy changes that would make God “crack a smile,” including: End abortion rights and defund non-profit groups supporting it, amend state constitutions to ban gay marriage and eliminate domestic partnerships and civil unions for gay and lesbian couples, and end discrimination against private religious schools and homeschools.

A related post by Center for Immigration Studies Executive Director Mark Krikorian at the National Review's website pushes a similar theme, this time focusing on Friday's failure of WaMu.

Krikorian suggests the big bank failed because it was too accommodating to minorities, including gays, African-Americans and Hispanics."

It would appear that religion, in its many forms is the root of the problem - as usual!

I wonder what the outcome would be if America banned such outbursts and actively pursued the perpetrators for inciting sexual and racial hatred?

I will agree that we live in a culture of sexual (and many other forms of) excess, and I wish that we would get school vouchers.... but WTF? While they're at it, why don't they blame gays and black people for global warming and the decline of good AM radio.

This is exactly the same kind of mentality that lead to the holocaust. You get into an economic mess, so start blaming minority groups for no logical reason other than you're a homophobe, anti-semite, xenophobe or suffering from some other form of narrow-minded sociopathic idiocy.

I just hope this blogger is just a loon on the fringe!

Hardly. Google 'separation of church and state is a myth' sometime. Hundreds and hundreds of websites, most funded by Christian churches and/or members, and 95% of which advocate this traitorous viewpoint rather than argue against it.

Or simply look at a current electoral map for next month's elections here in the U.S. See those red parts? There's our "fringe".

Actually

Actually, it's true. In fact, I became gay just to destroy our financial system. With that goal complete, I now wonder what I'll do with my life, and all my spare time.

Go back to dating women, I guess. *sigh*

That statement sounds awfully fishy to me. You wouldn't be fibbin woudja? *LOL*

Perhaps G-d is angry that all the religions (Especially the Fundamentlaists) have twised her Word and ideas so much.........

Honestly do they have any idea of how ridiculous that is?

Well, considering gay people are still routinely castrated, put to death etc in some countries, arguing about same-sex marriage rights seems downright civil. But we're dealing with institutionalized bigotry and ignorance that goes back 3500 years. It's not going to die easily.

Actually, Fundamentalism is a learned behavior and a choice and can be cured with therapy.

And if one MUST insist on beng a Christian there are other versions of it higher up on the food chain that have not been twisted, maimed and adulterated to that degree....

Could be true. Here's Barney Frank and his partner, Fannie Mae exec Herb Moses... Those wild and wacky gays!

"Although Frank now blames Republicans for the failure of Fannie and Freddie, he spent years blocking GOP lawmakers from imposing tougher regulations on the mortgage giants. In 1991, the year Moses was hired by Fannie, the Boston Globe reported that Frank pushed the agency to loosen regulations on mortgages for two- and three-family homes, even though they were defaulting at twice and five times the rate of single homes, respectively.

Three years later, President Clinton’s Department of Housing and Urban Development tried to impose a new regulation on Fannie, but was thwarted by Frank. Clinton now blames such Democrats for planting the seeds of today’s economic crisis."

Fox Noise again?

Haven't we figured out they aren't even credible? Insulating yourself with lies, distortions and mindless chatter won't change the facts. Just like McCain and Chick Cheney, you aren't even bothering to learn what the facts actually are, just regurgitating campaign propaganda. For twelve years, your beloved, corrupt Republicans have held control of Congress and the White House for the last eight and what did they do to stop the problem? Nothing.

Fox News

Here La Palin lets her hair down. Notice how much smarter (and well lit!) she appears on Fox news.

Notice how the arch is always within the frame. As if someone hoped the arch would add some stability to Palins shaky performances.

Fox news specialises in telling their audience what they want to hear. Its comfort food for people who think its all about Dems vs Rep, liberal vs conservative. Some people just wanna believe whatever makes them feel good. Its empowering, i guess.

"hay-nee-ous"

Her pronunciation of a few "grownup" words in those interviews would lead any rational, thinking person to surmise that she was either a) reading from a teleprompter or script, or b) memorized her answers from a sheet of paper over breakfast that morning. Dippity Up-Do was in Omaha last night and rambled on and on about what "mavericks" she and the old guy are, blah-blah-blah. Is she so insulated from reality that she doesn't see 63% of the country still laughing at her? She's still the same dim-bulb she was before, she's just had some "book learnin" in the last five weeks. Give her some more rope...

May the appliance gods (and there are many) help save us from this GOP race to the bottom.

Now, you know that MCCain tried to raise the alert on the housing, as did Clinton, as did Bush, and the Democrats were the ones blocking. Maybe if Frank wasn't so concerned about getting under Moses' desk or getting in front of the cameras without his teeth in, we wouldn't be here. Facts is facts. Not to mention that study after study has proven that Fox is much more fairer and balanced IN THEIR NEWS REPORTING than all others. Just because Anderson Cooper is cute doesn't mean CNN is credible and Fox can be pooh-poohed with your eye roll. Man, BDS and PDS sure do run rampant here.
