Fundamentalists blame Wall Street's woes on gays

Spin spin spin, Peter. And keep an eye on those poll numbers.

The simple fact is, Barney Frank and the Democrats tried FOR EIGHT YEARS to re-regulate the investment services industry, and every time these efforts were defeated by the Dick Armey/Newt Gingrich/Tom DeLay/etc Republican-controlled House. This, on top of "Foreclosure Phil" Gramm's 267-page, near-total deregulation of the industry, passed in 2000, which started this mess in the first place.

The ability of some people to delude themselves -- that "fair and balanced" news would or could be produced by Roger Ailes, that Fox News is something other than a mouthpiece for the Bush administration (Tony Snow, anyone?) and a tiny handful of neoconservatives, etc -- is beyond astonishing to me. But hey, if *you* believe they're fairer and more balanced, nothing else really matters does it. Please, by all means, stay inside that pathetic little box, continue to ignore reality and the outside world, let John McCain's campaign continue to tank, and watch the Republican Party continue to plunge headlong into extinction.

Check this out, end of an era

Reagan started it all, pushing deregulation. Of course eventually everyone went along. Nice to see him discredited.

Spend and borrow is over too. What a mess to leave to the next president, and to our country and our children.

Bye Bye Republicans!

Funny thing . . .

the whole concept that the amount of goverment debt matters little started under the Reagan administration. Certainly the mess we're in now can't be attributed to only one party, but to focus on housing and ignore our colossal debt is absurd.

I was raised by a father who always voted Republican (even in a very Democratic state) because he didn't want "big government, tax-and-spend Democrats" in power. He tought me to not buy things I couldn't afford and has always followed this advice in his personal life. What truly pisses me off about the Republicans today is that for years they've been accusing the Dems of advocating big government, yet it's been the Republicans who have virtually ignored any semblance of fiscal responsibility in the last thirty years as they've increased the size of government in every one of their administrations. George W. Bush and his cronies have been especially profligate with spending. "Tax and spend" may be bad, but to spend and not tax is much worse as eventually the chickens will come home to roost and that's what is happening now.

"Fair and Balanced" The world laughs.

Hahahahahahahaha!

Remember this?

"Terrorist fist bump."

And the world laughs harder.

National Republican Congressional Committee?? Oh please, as if MORE bullshit propaganda will strengthen your position.....

Hahahahahaha!

Almost the right G word

While gays didn't bring down Wall Street, another g-word did (I'm sure fundamentalists are familiar with this term as well): Greed.

The problem with capitalism and a free market is that it takes care of everything, but only when human nature and compulsions toward greediness don't intercede. Thing is, they do.

Let's be real here. Nobody can take credit for blowing the whistle on this--neither Republicans nor Democrats--because both parties were along for the ride so long as the getting was good. And we all knew that making oodles of sub-prime loans to people who either A) really couldn't afford a house, or B) opted for more house than they could realistically afford was a bad idea, and that it was all going to catch-up and bite us in the collective ass eventually.

So, here we are. Life is going to be difficult for a while, since acquiring discipline is never as much fun as getting away with something. Hopefully, though, we'll learn from this.

I like the people who think that God steered the economy into the ditch to teach us a lesson. It really puts ignorance of how an economy works front-and-center--right out there--rather than making people dig for proof that someone is a demagogue and an idiot.

you know , folks..

...For such 'tolerant' gay folks I see an awful lot of hatred on that side too.

Personally I'm rather glad that I am on strike.

Nate
