Well, I'm not saying it isn't a problem, but the linked article in the OP doesn't actually point to any scientific studies that say these (mostly polyester) microfibers are harmful to human health. Or did I miss something?

The long term solution could include:

1) Switch to natural fibers for ALL fabrics, worldwide.

2) Develop synthetic fibers that break down naturally at the same rate as cotton or wool.

3) Some combination of 1 & 2.

4) Don't worry, be happy.

Microplastics

Not sure what you mean by "scientific studies that say these (mostly polyester) microfibers are harmful to human health".

As far as I know, you are correct that the effects of microplastics on human health are still being investigated, but the damage microplastics do to the environment, and especially to the animal species at the base of the food chain, are well known

With me honestly I don’t worry about it, as I will honestly prefer the softness of tumble dried laundry over line dried any day, Plus the lint is always great for using as a firestarter
Other way in regards to reply number 4Why the hell should people be scared of aluminium cookware?

Just don’t put so many micro plastics in and they won’t come out. Most of my clothes are cotton or other natural fibres because I just find most synthetics unpleasant to wear.

The issue isn’t the dryer. It’s semi disposable mass produced garments that don’t last more than a few washes.
