has anyone tried gain detergent?, i have tried it a while ago, i use tide mountain spring powder,i am thinking about getting gain powder, island fresh. island fresh scent is so invigorating!!! omg i love it, i smelled it in the store today.

Why do you say HE is a waste of money? THey are the same price a the regular stuff.. (At least they are around here.)

I rather buy the regular formula than the HE type...i get more washes from the regular form because i only have to use 1/4 cup which gets me about 3 to 4 times more uses per box in my FL....may suds a little but so does the HE formulas...

Re: Gain

Jay, at my Wal-mart, the HE brands are 2 bucks more, my WP Duet has never had a suds lock with the regular stuff.....Bill in Az....

GAIN with Bleach liquid/or powdered

Is and has been my absolute favorite detergent for years now.I hope to God they don't ever get rid of that smell! One night, after leaving work,I went to a Wendy's for a salad and,as i waited in line, the young lady behind me who's boyfriend was with her, asked me what brand of cologne I had on(In Florida and here,I put shirts on right out of the washer.)I said "Gain". her friend almost fell on the floor and everyone else there who heard us laughed so hard the kids behind the counter looked a bit off guard.

I lost count of how many stains I got out of,not o nly my own but also others I either mentioned it to or let them try it to treat stains they couldn't get out of their wash.I still brag about it to everyone. If you have a front loading or HE washer,do what I do and get either WiskHE(unsented) or AllHE(unsented) and pour a quarter capful in with the correct measure of Gain.Lever's formula of HE detergents is the best.Every load I have done in my front loaders using them to keep suds of other detergents to stay low has worked great! it's like pouring Final Touch in to cut the suds! You still get great cleaning and rinsing and no oversudsing even though Gain w/ Bleach is not an HE formula.

I used Gain when I had my Whirlpool portable, and loved it. I have used Gain HE a couple times, but I usually stick with Tide HE. Dollar General sells Tide HE 48 load bottle for $10.00.

My favorite non HE detergent is Arm & Hammer powder.

Love the performance of Gain - but sorry to say that over the years they have toyed with the scent so much that I can no longer use it. I find any version chokingly strong and with successive washes builds up in the laundry, even with extra rinses. I simply do not understand why they have to be so over the top with the scent.

What I find even more offensive is that Gain commercial where the announcer tells us that "so and so fell in love with the scent of Gain in 1972 and still loves it", That suggests Gain smells the same as it did in 1972, How I wish that were true!!!

BTW, that rant also applies to the 7,000 variations of Tide as well as Cheer. Just give me the original scents of those detergents and I will be satisfied,

I think there are people who "can't" smell the scent anymore, so they complain to the company that they can't smell anything! So they add more scent, or come with all the extra odd smell!

Last week, I had a customer who just stunk with April Fresh Downy! God, I used to love it, and now I don't use fabric softner, I am starting to smell everyone else.
