GE Americana washer/dryer pair - $175

Matched set. What is the logo say on top of the washer lid? Were these nearly TOL, but not TOL - and ...late
70's or early 80's? Seems fairly priced.

Thank you - was this a special model or higher end? It doesn't have three control knobs on the washer panel, so I'm thinking, it's not the TOL.

The only washer higher up than this one would have had 5 program selections on the left end of the panel, which would pre-select the water temperatures and agitation and spin speeds. This one is in a lot of ways nicer in that it allows the user to select any combination he/she desires. Those toggles (top-to-bottom) control Wash Temp, Rinse Temp, Wash Speed and Spin Speed.

This is a very nice washer paired with the matching (joe mama) dryer - discussed in separate thread a few days ago.

Beautiful General Electric set BUT..........................

can't these sellers at least wipe down the machines with some Cinch and paper towels? If I were selling something I would present it in the best light possible!! Especially when you are asking alot of money for a forty year old set!!
Gently used??? The washer looks like it was left in a barn!

its a matched set, it has a mini basket and mini-quick, seperate controls for everything, its the largest capacity for both, they LIGHT UP, and a Dispens-ALL.....

what more could you ask for?

I don't need another set, but would be all over these like white on rice!

The Programmed washer that was the acme was eliminated in 1973; this was the last of its kind (notice the realistic local for the washing machine and the realistic looking hausfrau about to do a load; this ad was ahead of its time. What is the control for that is just to the left of the cycle control knob? It looks like some type of switch. Is it a suds saver control? How would it work if it is.

I do believe that's for either the mini-quick cycle for the mini-basket or the extended soak cycle that's for soak only or auto soak to wash with the dispensa-all system.

I think some TOL GE's had the rocker switch for EXTRA RINSE? Blowing up the pic doesn't help to discern much, but the noon to 5 o'clock position of the timer seems to show an extra rinse.

GE amazes me with all the options availalbe thru the years. Tons of MOL models, some BOL one-speeds, and then a set like this. And I see full width lighting, correct?

I am happy with 2 FF's, both 2 speed and 4 cycle and mini-basket, etc, but this set in this thread are wonderfully loaded up, Dispens-All and knobs, buttons, switches, options, damn I wish Reno wasn't cross-country.

my brother got this set when he got married....to the first wife.....doofus....

that rocker switch next to the timer was for the Mini-Quick cycle....you would set the timer at the 'mark' on the Regular cycle, and with a flip of this knob, it would run the timer in fastforward, and complete the whole cycle in 15 minutes!

GE Dispence-All Pair

Hope you get them Andy, keeping my fingers crossed, the only thing that worries me is it looks like they were already sitting outside when the photo was taken.

The little rocker switch to the left of the washers timer mechanically changes the timers advance speed so the washer goes through the complete cycle twice as fast, it was designed to be used with either the mini-basket or low-water level loads that you wanted to be done faster.

They were sold to a good home. Actually to a gentleman who wanted them as they reminded him of his mom's set. That's what I get for snoozing. Actually, I was out of commission with a very angry and painful sciatic nerve issue. Sigh...
