Since my "new" 1972 GE range has checked out so well, I would like to begin working on making her complete.

The biggest immediate need is a broiler pan. At this point in time, GE provided a Starlight Gray porcelain pan with a natural aluminum grid; a photo is below.

If anyone has one of these that they're wanting to sell, I'm very interested. I am also wanting a griddle, but I do not know which GE griddle is correct for my 30-inch range. On 30-inchers of this vintage, the griddle was only for one burner, the Sensi-Temp unit; it did not cover two burners nor was there any provision that tied the rear burner together with the Sensi-Temp unit.

Thanks! P.S.: I know almost any broiler pan or griddle will work fine. I'm one of those, LOL.

Looks Like This is Handled:

John (combo52) called me last night and treated me to a wonderful conversation about GE ranges!

He says he has the broiler pan, the griddle, the trim rings and the knobs I need, so it looks like I'm good to go.

I will be taking photos after the spa treatment is complete; John said he's shipping everything out today.

Oh boy, first meatloaf, and then either pancakes or french toast.  Makes a person wonder what's next.  Is that griddle dishwasher safe?

Tim:

The griddle is Teflon; my understanding from John is that it's like the one below (photo from AW Archives), only in much better condition. 1972 was Teflon everything, if you'll recall. I personally wouldn't put one of these in the dishwasher; the temperature indications and the GE logo on that anodized strip at the front would not survive well. A less fastidious person might be perfectly okay with it.

Phil - More spa treatment got done today. Basically, I was going over the oven some more to remove rust from the racks, etc. The range is now clean; it's just a matter of her new goodies arriving and getting put into place. Photos will follow, I promise!

Dishwasher Safe Griddle

The Teflon coated griddles do quite well in the DW, I have one in the W Va home and have put it through the 1987 WP PC DW many times, the strip at the front is actually SS so it survives very well. The black writing on the SS and the un-coated aluminum bottom of the griddle may eventually show some deterioration if it is washed to aggressively and to often in the DW, but I am willing to settle for very clean and easy over it looking like it just came out of the box, LOL.

Gleaming

I tend to be like you Sandy - hand wash anything I don't want to chance with the DW. But if John says it's good - maybe you can put that Teflon in there, relax and enjoy. That stove, if you believe the Japanese about things having spirits, is GLEAMING brightly not only from the cleaning but from its new owner.
