Ge Combo fun.....

As some of you may know I have been working on my GE combo and just finished replacing the broken bleach dispenser door (thanks combo52) and doing some odd cleaning jobs to it to make it shine. Well, after many days of cleaning and polishing and so forth the machine is looking and working pretty good! I am VERY impressed with how well the machine washes and rinses the cloths. I was also very shocked to find out how quickly it dried the cloths. I did a white king size set of sheets and six pillow cases and it took about 25 minutes to dry them silky soft and bone dry. I did learn that one should NEVER set it to more dry with the regular heat setting selected as that is just a little to long at such a high temperature for most fabrics. My sheets are super white and SUPER soft! This should be the beginning of a beautiful long love affair with my GE combo. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice and helped me with my machine. I hope to be able to repay the favor down the road. I will ad pics as soon as I do one more coat of turtle wax.

YAY! Congratulations!! I had alwasys wondered about the drying performance of the GE Combos (since mine still doesn't work as a dryer... LOL)

Congratulations Dave.  I too always wondered how well these dried.  Hmm, maybe that will motivate Paul to see about getting his dry portion to work on his combo.

You will find that low temperature of the cold water available for condensing the drying steam will speed the drying. Did you save the warm water that came out to do wash in another machine? As much water as these use to dry, it is nice to make some effort at recycling. If you wash towels, be sure to spin them in something to remove more water before drying. Yes, condenser dryers make very soft clothes. While it was drying, did you kneel down and look at the heating elements? I am happy it is working for you.

<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">I think the first time I used a GE combo I was in shock at how huge the Heating Elements were at the top of the tub!  It looked like regular electric oven elements in shape.

<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">I was also impressed at how they ran while spinning and during the last rinse.  I guess this was to get the drum all hot and steamy, ready for the dry!</span>
