I know that I will probably be shot for this suggestion, but would this GE dryer be a potential parts donor for a GE V-12?? This one is up for sale in Montreal for a fairly reasonable price....
Specifically, would this 'Custom' model's drum rollers make a suitable replacement for the flattened ones on the V-12? I am getting despatate here...

I cannot for the life of me seem to find the correct ones (I bought a pair of what turned out to be the Drive Wheel for a 1959 dryer - so if anyone ever needs them, let me know... They're brand new!)

'snot a V-12, but I would get it if I were you. Tell the hubby it's an exchange student from a land of very quiet green children. That'll do it.

What's that strange rectangluar thing sticking out from the left side of the trim strip? Is that some weird Canadian push-to-open mechanism?

Yep, the door release was changed to a push button on some of these models. I think it might have been an electrically-operated release mechanism like I have seen on some Whirlpool washers.

GE Dryer Doner Parts

Paul this newer GE dryer has no drum rollers at all, it would have front drum slides that could be easily retrofitted into your V-12, you may even be able to retro-fit the belt around drive that this newer dryer uses and get rid of the rear [ often lumpy ] drive roller that your V-12 uses.

Unless I forgot something I don't ever remember a WP dryer that used an electrical release for the door.

John, I am going to have to speak to you about the dryer drum glides! I have seen them but was not sure about which ones would fit the V12... Hubby would be VERY happy if I can get this dryer back together and out of the garage!!

It was the Whirlpool washer that had the electric release latch (not sure which model, though) - sorry for not being clearer about that! Work fatigue is getting to me...
