GE front loader? GFW550SSN0WW

Hello again,
I'm looking to move apartment and hopefully get a place with washer and dryer hookups. I wanted to get a speedqueen set but their models aren't large enough to wash queen-size bedding sadly. So I stopped into some local appliance stores to see what options they had.
It seems like both of them kind of directed me towards a GE set. And I'm not very familiar with them. I'm specifically looking at the GFW550SSN0WW washer and the matching dryer.
Are they reliable machines? Should I be looking at something else? Both of these places also dealt in Whirlpool and Maytag.

I've been under the impression that it takes like 4. Something cubic feet to do a queen size comforter and I see their largest capacity household model is 3.5 ft³ for their front load model

That's so crazy to me having been told this whole time that I needed something bigger than that but I'm extremely happy to see that they fit! Now there's just the problem with them being on backorder but maybe I'll just pick something up from restore to use until they come back in stock.

We have an LG and not only it fits our king size comforter but it washes really well. If you don't pick up a Speed Queen, LG would be my next option to look into.

You know I have a friend who's very techy and is pretty knowledgeable about washers/dryers and his suggestion was for either a Samsung or LG. But after stopping at two local appliance stores I learned that neither of them sell or service LG or Samsung. I called my friend to tell him that who then told me there's no service center for either brand within 3 hours of this city. I know very little about washers/dryers, but the fact that there are no service centers for those brands in this area really gives me pause.

Yeah that kinda sucks. What brands does your local appliance shops deal with? Speed Queen and GE I'm assuming?

Brands

Speed Queen, GE, Whirlpool, Maytag, there's at least one more appliance store in the area that I haven't visited but they also deal in things like tvs and furniture too.
Of course we also have big box hardware stores like menards lowes home depot, and best buy. They'll have a few more options i'm sure but I'd rather buy from a place that specializes in them due to the higher knowledge of the employees and knowing where i'm going to be able to get service work done (if needed)

Honestly out of all the brands you've listed, I would recommend Speed Queen (Even though I'm a Whirlpool fan myself). They are the most durable and reliable brand on the market, not to mention that they clean so well. If you like front loaders, you'd really like the FF7 (Available in either white or stainless steel). But if you like top loaders, you'd really like the TC5.

I recommend the lg with the recirculation pump and rinse jet. I wish GE had them.

Yeah Speed Queen really stands to me as a true quality product, despite knowing so little about washers and dryers. I've actually never owned a front loader before, or even my own washer at this point. It does appeal to me though due to it's larger capacity like if i ever wanted to go to a king size bed.

You know though bringing up the TC5....not to rekindle the top load vs front load debate but would there be a significant difference in their cleaning ability vs the FF7? I know the TC5 has the non-locked agitator and their classic agitation so if i did get a top load from them it would absolutely be the tc5.

A touch of humor my friend keeps saying that a speed queen will outlive us both, despite his dislike of how "basic" they are (very techy, likes smart features) and it just reminds me of this

I would absolutley recommend the FF7 over the TC5. Not only they use less water and energy but also they are more quieter, they hold in more capacity (there's no way a kind size comforter would fit in the TC5), they can clean just as well if not better than the TC5, and they are more delicate so your loads of laundry would last longer. They are more expensive and they do take longer to wash but honestly, they're worth going for than getting a top loader. Plus another thing that I really like about front loaders is that they can offer pedestals and the FF7 can have one equipped as well. As much as I love top loaders as an enthusiast, I would rather have what is better since I'm also a consumer as well. When I have a house of my own, a front loader would come in first before there would be space enough to also put in a top loader as well since I'd love to live somewhere that I can have a front loader and a top loader. Hope this was imformative!

Thank you Alex for all of the advice I now know exactly what to seek out. Hopefully they come back in stock not too long after I move. But like I said I can always pick up a used one as a placeholder habitat for humanity around here always seems to have some

We essentially moved from Tc5 to FR7, not exactly, but same deal, SQ top loader to
SQ front loader, just the prior models and even though we really liked our SQ TL we would not go back. We are very happy with the SQ FL and yes, it will do Queen sized bedding with no problems.
Hell, people say the Miele can do queen sized, and they are what? 2.4 cu ft?

Update!

They have arrived! I'm going to have to make a trip to the local hardware store cuz my plan is to raise the dryer over the washer so I have room for the litter box in the laundry room. They are not a stackable pair so that's my solution

If you put the dryer above the washer, how are you going to see/operate the controls for the dryer especially since the panel is at an upwards angle?
