Bought a new one

Thanks for all the insight. One other thing to note: Electrolux still has a two-piece outer tub, if that matters to anyone.

I liked the styling of the Electrolux better but passed due to the inaccessible drain filter. I did watch some cycles online and found that the pumps are noisy. LG's DC pumps swayed me.

I purchased an LG unit. So far so good. Very quiet, spins smooth. My only gripe: There's no tub light!

As many washer videos of different brands of FL washers in operation on youtube... one of the main things I noticed about the LG's is that they use MORE water in the rinses than in the main wash.... and unless I'm missing something, I don't see this same thing happening with other brands..Maybe I think I did see Samsungs use more water in the rinses... But the Duets, Maytags, GE's Elux's.. from what I can tell, whatever water you get in the wash is what you get in the rinse (from eyeballing it)...Maybe they do use more but it's not enough to be even noticeable... but the LG's are a totally noticeable difference.. I think manufactuers would KNOW you need more water to rinse than wash..Apparently LG and Samsung are the only manufacturers that understand this? I don't know... Oh... I forgot... Speed Queen front loaders... I have no clue if they use more water in the rises than the washes...I've seen videos and I couldn't tell a difference between wash/rinse so I'm guessing not... but they did seem to use fair amount of water in the wash itself so that's ok.
 
They do have Extra Rinses

It appears that there may be two washers from Electrolux that have an Extra Rinse button. Models ELFW7437AW and ELFW7337AW have options for an extra rinse. Models ELFW7637AT or similar with LuxCare or “Smart Boost” appear to have Pure Rinse.
 
Samuel that was my complaint--no tub light like my Duet had. That's why I've ordered the above referenced light. At the time, few models had a tub light. With latest generation a year or so ago, more models have tub lights.

Samuel, congratulations on your new LG washer. Which model did you get?

I wasn't aware you had a Samsung FL before, thought you had a Kenmore VMW TL.

No problem... there are tons of different ones on amazon...

I'm pretty sure it will work well... Not sure how well it will work in a sunny room or with the light on... but at least you can direct the light up against the window..turn the light out and it should be good.

I noticed on the reviews someone's using it as a light for their dryer... why? I don't know. I thought all dryers had lights...maybe theirs went out. But you get an idea of how nicely it will magnetize to any metal part of the washer.
 
My LG has drum lights. But they don't stay on the whole time which I'm honestly ok with that. Actually I rarely use lights so if I were to get another LG, I'd get a WM3470CW that's about half the price as my WM8100HVA. Because I feel like I don't necessarily need to have lights, I also rarely use the other cycles, and I find no differences of using the heater that's built inside. The only thing I do like other than the grey color are the turbo jets, but I can definitely live without that. So I just don't see myself of paying extra for the same thing again.

I've heard techs like to work on LG's becuase everything is so easy to get to on them...

I love those square door LG's... but too big for my laundry room.... I would get the 4.5 cu foot 27 inch one with turbo wash and a heater in white... I think it's like $799 ususally... but then by the freaking time you buy the hoses, haulaway...etc it's like $150 more... Oh and water hammer arrestors I hear are needed with the LG's.... I think from the frequent on/off's with filling

I think the BOL LG front load is like 699... so it's not that much cheaper

When the pump failed on my LG, the tech was so fast to change it out like he certainly knows what he's doing. I'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons why he recommended LG to us. Back to one of your earlier replies about water. Both my LG and my relatives' Samsung use quite a bit of water, though mine uses more since it's alot bigger anyways. My other relative has a Maytag which is basically a newer Whirlpool Duet, it definitely uses less water than the Samsung (similar capacities) which I wouldn't be surprised if that is still true today on their newer models including GE. From experience, I didn't had an issue with using less water since the loads still came out pretty clean. But if I had a choice, I'd prefer to use more water just to be sure it rinses out really well. Again that Lux I mentioned earlier was pathetic, the amount of water it used I remember just didn't cleaned my loads as well as the others.
 
Model I got...

I bought the WM4000HBA. Matches the old Samsung dryer well enough. Waiting for a good deal to pick up a pedestal for it.

Does LG still include "6-motion"? I don't see it in the marketing of some newer machines.

I think 6 motion is built into the cycles? Like some cycles will use different motions periodically...but I'm not sure if that's all models but I'm pretty sure if a model has turbo wash it will do that... I could be wrong.

Your setup looks like mine except the washer is on the pedestal and I have a standard dryer so the washer is higher...so when my washer dies the pedestal is going and I'm going to be using the new FL washer without a pedestal so hopefully it will be more even with the standard dryer... I know it will be slightly taller but that's OK... as long as they're the same color

Hi Samuel, why didn’t you just use the pedestal off the old Samsung?

We don’t seem to have any trouble remailing different brands on the pedestal. You might have to drill a hole or two in the top of the pedestal to accommodate holes in the new machine to both them together

Reply number 43. You can do the same thing Mark I have mounted about six Speed Queen front loaders on whirlpool duet pedestals to save the customer money.

it's nice that you do that for customers but I doubt some other tech's would do that... even still.. I actually don't want the new FL I get on a pedestal...because the dryer isn't on one.
 
I think the set I'd get for my next house would have pedestals with drawers. They're super nice on my relative's Samsung plus Kenmore and Maytag. My model had an option of getting one that's called a SideKick which is basically a pedestal washer but I don't see any reason why I should get one of those.

Because WasherTester has a 'PureRinse' Elux, and it definitely did 3 rinses.

RevvinKevin, if your Elux is really only doing 1 rinse....all I can think of is, Elux got really really stingy with rinsing in the last year? (is your machine brand new like within the last year?)
The Eluxes are supposed to all do 2 post-rinses. With the option of a 3rd.

Or....maybe your machine is faulty??? It happens.
 
One Rinse....

The normal cycle on my new LG does one deep rinse. At least it did with the smaller load I put in it. I'll have to try a larger load, or more detergent, to see what it can sense. That one rinse was quite adequate for the "sensitive skin" detergent I use. It really works the rinse water around, and does a spray rinse before & after.

Towels cycle uses multiple rinses.
 
Any cycle with Turbowash has one deep rinse as the spin spray is considered a 2nd rinse. Other than towels, I always add an additional rinse as there's nothing absoslutely wrong with that. I love the maximum flexibility with rinsing options.

Extremely rare I use Normal. My day to day go to cycles are Perm Press and Towels all with Turbowash.

Bob and myself own the same LG4200 sets. I use a handful of cycles regularly, most always with 2-3 extra rinses, and turbo wash, when the cycle allows. These machines are very energy efficient. never a problem with rinsing. Very happy with them.
 
I got so confused reading that. At first I thought you could NOT use extra rinses with turbo wash enabled... then I realized you can... for a moment that shocked me as I would freaking HATE that if that were the case.

Also, what's the max # of rinses you can do on an LD FL washer? With my duet extra rinse is 3 total rinses, because default is 2...but I think the LG you can do more but not 100%
 
Also... if you choose a cycle and turbo wash on, but not extra rinse... it does one deep rinse and a spin spray.. Is that the same spin spray that like only lasts 5 seconds or is it longer since extra rinse wasn't chosen?
 
I purchased the Electrolux top of the line 7637AT washer about 10 months ago. One of the options is 'Pure Rinse' which according to the manual does a better rinse than the option 'Fresh Rinse' on the lower end models. I was using the Towels cycle selection yesterday and it did 4 rinses. I just happened to walk into the laundry room when the washer was draining. I put my hand under the drain hose and the water was cold so it had just done a rinse. I checked the drawer and there was still fabric softener in the dispenser so it definitely wasn't the last rinse. The washer filled, did its thing and drained again. The water was cold and the softener dispenser was still full. It then filled again, did its thing and drained. The water was cold and the softener dispenser still full. It filled again, I checked the dispenser and now the softener dispenser had emptied. The washer did its thing, drained and then did the final spin.

Door latch…?

Is it characteristic of LG door latches to have about 1/4” of play when the door is locked? I just noticed the door moving when laundry was rubbing against the glass during the cycle…
 
BUMP: Because I would also like to know the answer to that Question for those who have LG.s I can say with my duet, even though the drum is tilted...the few times I've washed overly large heavy loads I swear I've seen the door move slightly (but not that much)...I stopped loading the machine that full years ago...I'd rather wash multiple smaller/medium loads than packing it fuller than it needs to be.... Gosh... that reminds me of something I haven't thought about for YEARS. I remember back in the day on the garden web forum when front loaders were new, there was this discussion about tilted vs non-tilted drums...some FL's back then were not tilted... but some were..... I think they are all tilted now aren't they?
 
I don't think any of the 24" model have tilded tubs. The tilted tub along with the paddles that are only raised in the back, causes all the twisting of sleeves and pants in my Duet. 😖
