This is an old one in excellent shape, this had to be made soon after GE aquired Hotpoint.

Thanks! I love looking at these older appliances. Can just see meself, hair up in curlers, big bathrobe (pank) and plaid houseslippers, getting up early to start the morning breakfast.

How is the heat regulated in the oven?

Is this part of the "EL ... " Line?

Is this part of the "EL Stovo,EL Irono,EL-Perko,EL-Curlo,EL Toasto, EL-Mixo" line?
I'm making those names up but you know what I mean...
I think Hotpoint tippled in the "EL-Tequilo" while coming up with their early product names... doncha think??

...and the Calrod elements are fabulous compared to their predecessor, being an open NiChrome wire coil in a ceramic base.

I can' picture myself cooking with metal pots that had a metal handle on the first electric cookers.

GE aquired Hotpoint in the 30's just for their new cooktop elements, this is a very early GE/Hotpoint, the burners still say Hotpoint on them.

Oh, and by El, I just meant electric (like that wasn't obvious enough). I don't know about other El products.

Since not answered, let me venture a guess.

Think of those GE and Hoptpont push-button stove-top heats.
Like the top-burners, two elements are connected in parallel or series with one or both receiving 220 or 110v (or a combination of both voltages).

I believe we have shown here on the site that a 220v heating element on 110v uses approximately 1/4 of the wattage it would on 220v.

E= I x R [Volts= Amps x Resistance (in Ohms)].
Therefore I= R/E [Amps = Resistance divided by Volts]

Watts = Volts x Amps

BTW,

These were first called "electrified gas stoves" because prior to this time a stove meant a wood or coal-burning heating stove or cookstove.

Hotpoint did have an "EL" line long ago. Coincidence with your title I guess.
