Hotpoint / GE

Hi Matt, yes they where sold abroad, but badged as GE, not sure whether they where shipped complete from UK, shipped parts from here and assembled them or they where built under license in AUS,

I know Chris (Gizmo) posted some purple machines he had some time ago, so maybe the guys can fill in the detail!!!

just a little bit toooo much cost to ship back me thinks!!! Cheers, Mike

Heres the one of the 2 liberator dryers that myself and Paul own,

The first one we got a few months ago from Manchester.

Not bad for 99p!

LOL

Something for the weekend!

a matching set indeed!

excuse the inuendo but there is a top and bottom to this unveiling but you will have to wait my dear friend.

or perhaps they will be better shown in public united side by side?

Inuendo

hmmm yes i am sure you are right in saying that there is a "top" and a "bottom" in this partnership........oh i am getting smutty ......its that strawberry blond hair....stobbit

ok ill wait then.....stomps off and buys front row ticket

Mrs Doyles new washing machine

youve bought a bloody liberator washing machine havent you, havent you?......whens it coming? monday?..tuesday?..wednesday?..thursday?friday?..saturday.....HAH!

sorry, I forgot... they were imported complete from UK.

they were not badged as Hotpoint, as the name was owned by another company.

I believe they were also sold in South Africa, though I can't remember where I got that snippet from. Badged as Morphy Richards???

Chris.

Lol Rob could you look anymore smug in that pic =P

Can't blame you mind. Finally someone has one! I was beginning to think they were all but extinct. Now to get the original dispenser drawer for it if there's any still around and it'll be perfect =D.

It's soooo pretty =D

The Trump Card

Well, well, well...congratulations to you! I'm sure for many of us here (Brits anyway) that an original Liberator washer trully is the card that trumps all, collection-wise. The smug look is justified.

So - does it WORK?

You know, my devious side can't help but wonder if this is lamb dressed as mutton...is the "Super Electronic" drawer front actually a clue to the machine's real age? Has the relentless trawling of spare parts shops and pumping of contacts enabled a later machine to be dressed as a Liberator?

....

Ouch!

...best go and get the steak out of the fridge for the black eye I've (probably) just received!

The machine's a beauty however it came about. How does it feel to be living the dream?

Toodles

Al

STACKED

GRRRRRyou teasy little buggah! :-)

yes you are well stacked matey.........meanwhile back to the other pair of stacked beauties...........WOW i can hear the motor in my head now............these machines what can i say............memories..........how old was I about 17/18 (1977/78)..........christ i remember them..........lovely lovely lovely.........oh and I also noticed the two Kenwood chefs carelessly left on top of the fridge by the servants....dont get me going about them either, though i do have a couple of even more beautiful Sunbeams.

well even you have made them up i have no problem with that at all, and i shall of course look out for a soap draw front for you both if you want

I think this is great that you both have acheived so much, i applaud you both.

Now what about some vids of the machines and some with the strawberry blond in just a jock strap and work boots loading the machine...........

Cheers chaps
Gary

LOL

Time to come clean, ba da dshhh.
(Excuse the pun.)

Paul and myself have all the neccesary dials, fascias and parts to indeed turn a brown Hotpoint 18 series machine into the highly sought after Liberator in the purple colour scheme.
(Brown Hotpoint machines in this style are NOT Liberators as the trade/branding name was lost in 1979)

Seeing as we had plenty of spare time today we decided to fix a 1848 up for some fun just to see one again.

What you see in the photo is the other Liberator dryer of ours with the parts we have for the washers stuck on,

We do have the Liberator powder cover but as usual we couldnt find it this afternoon as we have re organised our storage space and got a bigger unit.
In a heat of the moment search we couldnt locate it - it actually was here at home when we got back and posted the pictures. typical eh?

HOWEVER

Tommorrow hopefully and we do mean HOPEFULLY we will unveil a TRUE washer and matching dryer as a treat for you.
Not saying what they are - you can await and see the glory with us :)

We just do hope everyone sees the amusing side to this - I mean we have all been wanting so badly to see a Purple washer for ages so here it is.
Im sure you can all appreciate this.

Gary I can Assure you though that there is actually a true fully operational Hotpoint Liberator 1848 in the UK.
It has Pauls and mines names on it when the current owners decide time is time to give it up.
They are around still!

Dam, my dad will never be forgiven for sending my liberator to the tip, not till the day he gets put 6ft under, and I stamp on him with a picture of one, I’m still looking and will continue to scour the tips, auctions and house clearance places till I get one!!!

I misted one at local auctions about 2 years ago I could not get to the auction, DAM IT.

Great stuff
