So it looks like I won’t be getting the new washer and dryer for a few months and I need to repair my GE laundry center for now (Model GTUP270EM1WW). I have always hated this machine but I need it working for now. A couple tub dampening strap mounting points have broken off the tub cover and it needs to be replaced as it’s just bouncing around like crazy. I looked up the part and apparently the new tub cover has eliminated the use of dampening straps and comes with new rod and spring assemblies. This machine has always been very prone to getting out of balance easily so I’m wondering if the new design is an improvement or if it will go out of balance even easier with this new design? Also any tips to keep his better balanced would be appreciated!

Hi Shannon,

Put the new strut kit in, the straps were just limiters and had little to do with handling out of balance loads which is probably why they no longer use them.

You are correct that these machines are basically a POS, we work on many every week.

Save up for a Speed Queen stack if you need another stack in the future.
