Here I go again:

Why is it that on the models before/after the "S," any wash cycle other than normal only features one post wash rinse?

Or are the manuals published by GE including some sort of typo/rinse misplacement on the cycle progression chart?

I've attached two extracts from the user guides, so you can get a picture of the "problem". The "S" series first, followed by the extract which matches for the M, V and L series of machine. This is a 1200dpi scan from my HP printer, thru iPhoto to reduce size.

Why only have 1 post wash rinse? Wouldn't this leave detergent on the dishes, combined with rinse-aid (chemical disaster, for those involved!)

This was a mis-print. Light, Energy Saver, China & Crystal had two pre-wash fills, then main wah, then two post-wash rinses. I don't have access to my user manual right now, but that's the proper sequence. I noticed this years ago as a mis-print that was in the manual online.

The "S" seies simply "renamed" what had been labeled "Normal" as "Heavy" and what had been "Light" as "Normal". The cycle length of 40 minutes for Heavy Wash is inaccurate, because Heavy added another pre-wash fill in teh sequence chart. Also, water consumption is inaccurate for "Heavy" since it had the exact number of water changes as Potscrubber, thus it could only use the same amount of waer. Sadly, you cannot alwaqys believe what you "see" in this publication. I've seen an errror or two likie this in KitchenAid and Whirlpool manuals over the years.

I agree with Bob

I had a GSD1200L for 10 years and I know it rinsed more than once on the Light Soil cycle -- I used that cycle at least weekly to twice weekly.

I have a G model now and it provides two or three rinses per cycle. The Potscrubber and Normal cycles have three rinses, Light and Energy Saver have two.

Who knows. In my previous life when I worked for a Fortune 100 company, one of my last responsibilities for a few years included me being the final proof-reader for ad copy, sales brochures, and such since I did the competitive analysis on products. I knew our stuff and would alawys find even tiny little mistakes in the copy before it went to production. As my boss said, I saved the firm tens of thousands of dollars at the very least over time. More than paid for my salary and overhead.
