So I've got a cheapo GE range + Oven that runs on Propane. It's been blackening the burners and pots more and more over the last year or so. We've tried cleaning the burners, taking them off, soaking them, putting them through the dishwasher... We just can't get them to stop turning yellow (the flame) and making soot. It came with the double wide, so we haven't really been able to find replacement burners. Any suggestions beyond replacing it?

If I have to replace it - what would be a good model / brand to look at? I've looked at BlueStar, and *might* be able to get the more basic 30" ones at around $3,300 - if it was like the Speed Queen of propane ranges. Otherwise, I'm probably going to be in the $800-$2,000 range.

$800 - $ 3300 for a STOVE ?

You'd flush that for a stove? You can get gas stoves on Craigslist for $25 or even free. If the petroleum is staining the stove you have, it's going to do the same thing to what ever stove you get.

Interesting thing, Electric stoves don't do that, and an electric stove does not present a carbon dioxide risk.

Hmm, if I contacted a local appliance repair person - would they know what I was talking about regarding checking the air shutters? We've never intentionally changed any settings on the stove since we've had it and it burned propane as expected for 13 or so years...
