Several years ago I was told that during the 1950s GE test-marketed gas ranges under their own brand in the Northeast and a couple other areas, they were not sold nationwide.I got on Newspaper.com and found it to be true.Saw many ads mentioning "GE gas ranges"(NOT a misprint,in one ad they were listed under the GE electric ranges). Apparently they were sold in 30 and 36 inch versions.Looks like they were sold until the early 60s. Don't know who manufactured them for GE.No photos.
This was WAY before they introduced gas ranges(again?)in the mid 80s.

Anybody know anything about this or have photos?

They sure did not market them in the southeast. When they introduced their gas clothes dryer, they were so skittish about the idea that they put the name "Premire" on them, a name they got when they bought the Premier Vacuum Cleaner line so that GE could have a line of vacs. This is the first I have heard of this.
